my friend took me to superman (2025) and now i'm into the dcu so.... this happened.

Hello!! I'm genuinely so obsessed with your DC au but specifically I have been thinking about your ranpo as superman and poe as louis/jimmy/etc(?) SO much,,, Your art style suits all of them but I just love the way you draw poe 😭❤️

Also I had a small question (questions whoops 💀) but if its spoilers or not smth you've thought about dw about it!! Does Karl have the ability to shut off his kryptonite "waves" at will or does ranpo just get genuinely sick whenever Karl is around? (I'm gonna be honest I don't know superman much outside of this most recent movie so I'm not sure if kryptonite always affects him so strongly 😔) Also, do ppl just not believe poe/chalk it up to his shenanigans when he says ranpo is superman? I could see it like that sitcom-y "haha, classic poe" but I wasn't sure if that was how it was lmao. And then kind of a follow-up question but do ranpo's glasses work like they do in the movie and poe can just see past them or is it just that no one else can put the images together?

When I say Karl is a kryptonian racoon, I meant that he comes from Krypton, superman's home planet! Kind of like how Krypto is a dog from Krypton that survived, Karl was also (I mean, if a dog can exist on krypton, so can a raccoon!!) So he doesn't hurt Ranpo. He has some powers like Krypto which is how he can get into comically impossible scenarios that Ranpo has to 'save' him from. Poe found Karl wandering the woods one day, but he never saw any signs of an alien landing nor has he ever happened to see Karl do anything that would point to the fact that he's not a regular raccoon, so he doesn't know about Karl's origins. Ranpo has guessed, but he just hasn't mentioned it. He thinks its funnier to let Poe figure it out on his own. He also acknowledges that Poe kind of has a bias against him, so he doesn't want to taint his relationship with basically his emotional support animal by pointing out that connection.

For the second thing, yes exactly that, lmao. He tried very hard to get people to see it, but he very quickly realized that it was a futile endeavor. He knows it's the glasses (it's the only thing other than clothes that is different between Ranpo and Superman appearance-wise) but Ranpo is very careful and never lets his glasses out of his sight, and Poe isn't about to just run up and rip the glasses off his face. So, he is forced to seethe. No one really understands why Poe very obviously dislikes their star reporter. Some probably attribute it to jealousy while others think it's because of his weird (not) delusion that he is Superman. The only connection they make is that Ranpo gets a lot of interviews with Superman, but that can happen to anyone so long as they are in the right place at the right time. Since Ranpo excels at reporting in general, people don't find it hard to believe. So, when Poe is going off about Superman and Ranpo being connected, they just laugh it off as their quirky coworker going off on another one of his tangents. It doesn't help that even before Ranpo came to work for them that he had already established that eccentric persona. Because of no one believing him, though, he hasn't bothered to bring it to Francis or anyone else in Fitzcorp yet until he can get some solid proof.

As for the glasses -- yes. They do work exactly like they do in the movie. They don't work if the person already knows Ranpo's identity, like Fukuzawa, but they also fail if the person is just smart enough to figure it out. The only people who would know in that sense are Poe, Mushitaro, and Dazai if he ever met Ranpo outside of costume. Karl is also an exception, but that's because I assume that fellow Kryptonians could see past the illusion (I don't know if that's true or not in DC canon, but it will be in mine)
