Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Rupert Giles - Type 8w9

Giles is protective, caring, assertive and helpful. Giles' main motivation seems to be protecting Buffy and the rest of Sunnydale.

At his best, Giles is very helpful and much calmer than he was in the past (integrating to 2). Giles is also very responsible and practical.

At his worst, as we see in flashbacks, Giles used to have trouble controlling his emotions and was quite a rebellious teen. This rebellious side of Giles sometimes comes out in his older self when he is stressed. 

Giles is a bit hard to type as he has elements of other types such as 6 and 5, however, looking at his past, I believe he is a healthy 8. Giles cares deeply about protecting the people he loves and often takes on a leadership position within the Scoobies. Giles is seen as a authority and father-figure for Buffy and her friends.

8s often have their own ways of doing things, which we see with Giles. For example, Giles openly defies the Watcher's Council because he feels like they don't understand what it's like to be on the ground with the Slayer. Giles also can be quite rigid in his views and often bosses Buffy around a bit. Giles also doesn't like his authority being challenged as we see when Wesley becomes Buffy’s new Watcher. In fact, he openly criticises Wesley because he hates that he isn't in charge.

Giles has shown throughout the show that he is very tough, like many 8s are. For example, when Angelus was torturing him he didn't want to give him the satisfaction of showing weakness. He also would prefer to sacrifice himself than to have any of his loved ones be hurt.

Giles shows his wing 9 as he is calmer and less impulsive than an 8w7 (although he may have been an 8w7 in his adolescence).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Faith Lehane - Type cp6w7

Faith is insecure, assertive, fun and scrappy. Faith has always felt like she was alone in the world and has always sought a support system to make her feel secure.

At her best, Faith becomes calmer and less jealous of Buffy, as we see when she joins the Scoobies in s7. Faith also learns how to take responsibility for her actions and tries to be a better person. 

At her worst, Faith becomes destructive and violent. Faith becomes terrified of being exposed for her wrongdoings and instead chooses to try and turn on Buffy and ruin her reputation.

Faith is a counter-phobic 6 as she is more reactive and aggressive in regards to her fears. Faith also likes to present a tough exterior and pretend like she doesn't fear anything, when really this is just a defence mechanism. I also think Faith is the intimate subtype of 6 which is more likely to be counter-phobic. Intimate 6s can also be mistaken for 4s as they are usually quite expressive and edgy in the way they present themselves.

6s are often looking for something or someone to give them security (such as a belief system or an authority figure). When we meet Faith, she hasn't had the best time with authority figures, as her first watcher was killed and her second 'watcher' was bad. So, Faith tries to become involved with the Scoobies and wants to be liked by them (especially Buffy). She feels like Giles and Buffy are trustworthy and reliable. However, she is constantly feeling insecure about her position in the Scoobies as she feels excluded from important events. On one occasion, she asks Buffy about Angel and Buffy shuts her down, which makes Faith feel like she is not to be trusted. This all contributes to Faith's later actions.

After killing the human, Faith feels like her best course of action is to throw Buffy under the bus so she can 'stay safe.' After this doesn't work, Faith seeks an authority figure in the Mayor, because she thinks it will be better for her to be on his good side since he is so powerful. The Mayor and Faith form a strong relationship, with the Mayor acting as a father figure for Faith which is something she has always wanted.

Finally, I feel like the show is trying to show a duality between Buffy and Faith and that at their cores they have similar motivations. Faith serves as a warning to Buffy as to what her life could have been like without a support system like the Scoobies.

Faith shows her wing 7 as she is more adventurous and expressive than a 6w5.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Cordelia Chase: Type 3w2

Cordelia is charismatic, funny, self-absorbed and helpful. Throughout High School, Cordelia cared a lot about popularity and status, but ultimately always wanted to have real friends and be part of the Scoobies. 

At her best, in Angel, Cordelia becomes much less selfish and consistently tries her best to help Angel and the team with her newfound power of visions. Cordelia also becomes very loyal to Team Angel (integrating to 6). 

At her worst, Cordelia can be selfish and status-obsessed. For example, she felt like she has to hide her relationship with Xander because she was scared of what other people would think.

In Sunnydale, Cordelia was seen as vain and superficial and often annoyed the Scoobies. Despite this, Cordelia would still help them when she could (even before and after she was dating Xander). Cordelia also always exhibited a lot of self-confidence, like many 3s often do. She also had somewhat of a lack of a filter, often saying whatever came to mind. This could be due to a lack of self-awareness or simply thinking everything she has to say is important.

Cordelia moves to Los Angeles because she has dreams of becoming a famous actress. While there, she reconnects with Angel and meets Doyle. She begins forming a bond with Doyle, when he dies abruptly leaving her with his power of visions. After receiving the power of visions from Doyle, she begins being more involved in helping people, because she begins to actually feel their pain. This helps Cordelia become more integrated as she becomes more empathetic and selfless.

Cordelia begins to form a relationship with Angel and is always a calming and reassuring force in his life (until her death, which I like to pretend never happened). She even uses her last moments on Earth to help Angel get back on the right track, showing her character growth. 

Cordelia has a wing 2 as she is more people-oriented than achievement-oriented.
