I have mostly scattered thoughts at the moment, but I think Scaramouche is one of the most accurate examples of an SX lead that I came across personally. I use Enneagrammer as a source, but I think he hits the mark using several popular takes on the theory. You can even make a case for Naranjo subtypes if it's what you prefer to go with, as the consensus seems to be going between SX4 or SX6. I prefer to see the instincts and enneagram separately but in the case of this character typing, this is not important because it's at least clear he's SX in every way. More about his instincts and enneagram core type under the cut, and tl;dr at the end. This is a very rambly post and meant to invite discussion.
Instinctual variants:
His intensity and single mindededness and desire to embody his ambition and his spiritual role even at the cost of self-destruction speaks of what SX truly is to my eyes: an almost "possessed" contenance, and a vessel-like nature for raw birthing/destructive power (nods to his egregious death and rebirth themes.) Besides the common arguments about his neediness and how readily he attaches to people--a sense of permeability that is stronger than average and stands out in contrast to his pricklyness and aloofness.
Moreover, his social cluelessness/disinterest come off genuinely social blind rather than socially rejecting in say, an SO/sp way, I think. He does not seem to be overly aware of his "genres", so to speak, especially if he's an image type, ie. he may be social blind or at least social second. In Simulanka, and in his voice lines, he has enough self-awareness to play around with and poke at the fact that he's supposed to be a villain and a bad guy, and not a hero or a good guy, but that's the extent of it iirc.
For what it's worth, he doesn't seem SP blind but he's close. The SP may even be evident to some, but it does not come above his ruinous and self-damaging fire, that tempestuousness. There's a lot more to say about how he could fit SX/sp regarding lesser points like SP playground stuff but hopefully linking this page here explains those less important points because I want to move on to the next part. Basically, SX/so is a close possibility after SX/sp to me.
Enneagram core:
What SX tends to overlap with (not correlate, and I totally avoid correlation typing) in other systems is Enneagram 4, which made me hesitate to entertain the idea of him being 4 core despite how it sort of jumps at you at a glance. He's "emo". He's full of torment and pain, but not in the sadsack way as the 4/9 stereotype goes (which is in actuality just depression and not a personality type trait) but in a truly fourish way, eager and proud. He looks edgy. He's generally introverted, but not at all mild, instead, he is rather "loud" with who he is. But the more I thought about it the more I realized how much of Scaramouche's personality and actions are driven by his heavy identification with being broken, and by envy. The core wounds of enneagram 4. The uncertainty remains in whether these themes outweigh his more head-type themes.
Head vs heart:
It's clear he's got a strong and reactive head fix (6) and that he may be a triple reactive tritype (468)....what remains is finding the core type, between 6w5 and 4w5. Five core doesn't fit at all, as a true 5 in genshin would be someone like Alhaitham, but the withdrawn side can't be ignored, so a w5 feels very comfy to give to him. Nevertheless, my intuition tends to jump towards head types whenever Anemo is involved due to Anemo's themes of freedom, forging your own path, and finding direction or purpose in life, which tend to align with 6 and 7 for the most part. Scaramouche *was* driven to find purpose, as it is shown with Wanderer too--but what caused Wanderer to wander? It was a feeling of emptiness due to having his identity erased from his memory, and it is retreiving said identity along with the sins and pain that accompany it, in particular, an acceptance of the self and its evilness, that earns Scaramouche a vision.
The fact that he was never given a name and had to go through different roles and selves show the importance of personal identity to him. If he were a 6 seeking to assuage existenial fears of aimlessness and loss of inner faith, he would not be fixated on these partiuclar means to achieve his purpose. Scaramouche also never lacks an inner sense of guidance in what he does, he just does what he sets off on doing, and what he does lack is a moral framework or ethical considerations to what he does, which calls for developement towards 1 (4->1 integration).
So while I do see the 6ishness in him, and the head themes are there, I think he may be a shame type, centered around identity, although in a way befitting to his MBTI type and wing and tri, rather than a stereotypical 4ish broken bird artist type.
4 fix vs 2 fix:
I realized that I could articulate what could make him a 4 core with a lot of ease after my initial reticence after recognizing his 2ish patterns: pride, servitude, and identity in being useful to others. But what is 2 if not connected to 4 anyway? And those aspects of him are less fixed and urgent as the unreasonable obssession with missing a literal piece of him was, and how he translates that to missing an essential component of humanity, and feeling hollow inside (literally and figuratively). Even after moving on from ideals of becoming a real human, or becoming a god, his belief of being apart from others persists and he remains a very self-centered character with little identification with selflessness. His character seems to be growing towards 1 as well, as of Simulanka update.
2 being a positive type rules it out, as Scaramouche, even in his new state and on a path of atonement, seems to revel in negative emotions and pull from them, and seems to feel scorn and jadedness towards subjects he discusses with feigned distinterest. Even after receiving a heart, he continues to be fixated on the suffering around him. It goes without saying that he doesn't derive a sense of self worth by being giving, or generous with his energy time or anything material or emotional, but is very proud and almost bafflingly pleased at receiving attention via his first devotee as a false god. It goes opposite the 2 fixation.
4 is an idealist triad frustration type, and it desintegrates to 2. At his most desperate, Scaramouche decided to let others use him just so he can gain recognition and be a useful helper, even if it damages him. (At least that's how I read his involvement in the fatui, and there are shades of it in his acceptance of being at Nahida's service.)
In conclusion, Scaramouche, who is fixated on whether he can be truly said to have a heart or not, is most likely to be heart core. This is a thing of utmost importance as it is even illustrated in his constellation: a doll holding a heart. And in typical 4 tradition, Scara believes he is hollow inside. The corniest, fourest thing I've ever seen.
I could do more comparison analysis with other hypothetical cores and fixes but this is not meant to be a very long post. A 6w5ish 4w5 seems to be a decent typing for now.
MBTI:
Regarding MBTI, I don't do letter-based or dichotomy based Jungian personality theory. I rather prefer Jungian functions, but that's a very muddy ground to tread considering everyone defines the functions differently and there's massive misconceptions about them, particulalry the functions most associated with Scaramouche in the community: Ni and Fi. For a strictly JCF perspective I stick to a personal interpretation of MBTI that comforms most closely to CPT's model more or less, because it's what aligns the best with the visual typing-based Cognitive Type theory, the latter which I consider to be the best jungian based typology system, but is not classic MBTI or JCFT and can't be cleanly discussed in MBTI language so to speak. Because of this...complicatedness, I decided I'd tackle his jungian type in a dedicated post.
I am interested in the enneagram, and as a fan of this, I am also interested in the artist KERKIKERK, who draws illustrations for this.
I was interested in repeating her style, and I drew myself.
when someone gatekeeps sx but not in a 'oh you had to be cool in school to be sx' way but a 'you have to have met a goblin at 11 and a half years old and you have to had sex with a fairy at the legal age then drank two immortality potions then swore to save everyone's lives to be sx' like tf you high on
then they act like they know better than everyone like bruh calm tf down
