I want to know.. about ur Jacob fellow

OH BOY OKAY so for this I will have to explain... The entirety of my characters lore.

So basically, there's this mechanic named Jacob who works at the Texas branch of Black Mesa. And he's literally just a guy, and he has this brother who mysteriously vanishes from his lab one day, and a few months later his mom dies. So he's uh a little fucked up, and that's when he is straight up handed two lab grown children to take care of! Y'see Black Mesa has been trying to create the perfect scientist, and to that end the Texas branch has made... An mlp horse and a little gremlin creature. And now they're Jacob's. Because the scientists are great at making weird little guys but have no idea how to take care of them. (not that Jacob knows any better lol) and so he starts taking care of these two! It goes... Relatively well for around three years, despite Jacob's many failings as a makeshift parent and the gremlin creatures tendency towards mischief. They even get names! the horse is named Buddy entirely because Jacob calls him buddy a lot, and the gremlin creature is named Gerrie because they call Jacob "Dr. Garri" and wanted to copy him. But anyway, after three years of Jacob taking care of them, Gerrie needs a test that requires bringing them to the surface, and so they get to see the sun for the first time in their life, and they immediately decide Buddy needs to see it too. And so they hatch a plan!! A very poorly thought out plan, but still. While Jacob is distracted, Gerrie and Buddy sneak out of the lab and head for where Gerrie thinks they remember being the surface being, and this is where I need to pause I explain Buddy's magic. Y'see, when the scientists who made him were goofing around making an mlp horse, they uh. They gave him incredibly powerful magic and then didn't bother telling Jacob. So this horse can move things with his mind and also set things on fire!! Anyway back to the escaping protos. As Jacob is already looking for them, they run afoul of a few patrolling guards, who know prototypes can be dangerous and try to capture them. And Buddy, who's terrified and wants to protect Gerrie, he uh! He kills them with his magic! This freaks him out even more, leading to a massive fire. Meanwhile Jacob hears the smoke alarms and is running around trying to find them, eventually running into the hallway they were in and finding.. lots of fire, multiple corpses, including that of Gerrie, and a crying Buddy curled up on the floor. And this is when Jacob's big character establishing moment happens! Bc what does he do in this situation? He runs the fuck away <3 unfortunately for him, the ceiling above him collapses and he's pinned under rubble, his right arm getting mangled in the process. He passes out, but is soon saved by the rescue team sent in to retrieve the survivors, and he wakes up in the hospital with a missing arm and a lot of guilt on his conscience!
