Got new server hardware at my job, that means the old server hardware is soon to be mine.

Its truly bonkers how much perfectly functional ewaste is generated by enterprises, like the company i work for is just gonna toss a shitload of computers just because they don't have tpm 2.0 modules or the headers to install them. but they're fine computers with like 8gb of memory and okay 7th gen i5s. Like you're not going to be playing games on them, but most of my home infrastructure is built on worse computers.

Like holy shit, if we ditched windows at my org we could be replacing all our computers every five years instead of two.

was talking to my coworker the other day about how the internet can be such a cruel place for those with mental illness sometimes- like when her & i were kids and those stupid "share this post or else this creepy monster's gonna come kill you at 3 am!" would get us every time and like. those posts in particular are probably (hopefully) dead and gone but i really do feel for some of these younger kids being raised on the internet because some of these kids have OCD or schizophrenia or wtv and these kinds of paranoia-inducing posts are still around, they've just changed

idk. i often think about what it was like to have all my lights on all night because that stupid fucking momo showed up on my feed and i was convinced she was coming to get me, shaking and trying to convince myself that it's "just a post" and "not real" but being unable to truly convince myself of it bc of my severe paranoia and i think of those kids rn with all these generative AI posts and LLMs and quote-unquote "schizoposting" from neurotypicals that just serve as triggers for actual paranoid delusions in people and i think of those 8 month old babies screaming and crying so their parents just shove tiktok in their face to shut them up

does this not feel like a recipe for disaster for anyone else? but of course what can we even do about it if the neurotypicals dont care enough about mentally ill people to either just not make or properly warn their audiences for the triggering content prior? hell. it's borderline impossible for anyone to even properly warn for flashing images !!!!! which can cause actual Seizures for some people !!!!

the world hates disabled people and it's sad but unsurprising that we cant even just exist on the internet, we always have to be on high alert for a potential trigger that could fuck up our entire day/week/month/year and if you ever ever complain about this ever then everyone tells you that you "shouldn't be on the internet at all" in that case like ok i think maybe you just hate disabled people and want us all to be alone + suffer in isolation
