Tarhana Lokum ve Safran dolu 2 gün:

Buraya gezileri, detayları unutmayayım diye yazıyordum. Ama birkaç yeri yazmayınca gerisi geldi, o yüzden artık kronolojik sırayla yazamıyorum. Şimdi Ekim’in son haftası gittiğimiz Safranbolu’dan bahsedeceğim.

Safranbolu’dan önce oraya 8km uzaklıkta olan Bulak Mencilis Mağarası’na gitmek için Bulak köyüne gittik, oradaki evler de Safranbolu evleri gibiydi, ilk fotoğraftan görebilirsiniz. Kahvaltıyı İstanbul’dayken yaptığımız için acımıştık, yolda gördüğümüz bir amcaya köyde nerede yemek yiyebiliriz dedik, bize meydanın orada Bulak Sofrası var, orayı beğeneceğinizi düşünüyorum dedi (aynen böyle dedi ve amacanın telaffuzu trt spikeri gibiydi). Neyse amcanın dediği yeri bulduk, ama burası rezervasyonla açık olan, civarda yaşayan insanların kına, gün vs yaptıkları bir yermiş. İçerde sipariş üzerine baklava açan teyzeler vardı, bir tanesi misafir aç gönderilmez siz geçin içeri ben artık ne varsa kolay olacak yapıvereyim bir şeyler size dedi. Önce kıymalı tarhana çorbası getirdi ki o civarın tarhanası meşhurmuş zaten, sonra yarım tepsi su böreği, yanında bir demlik çay, ev turşusu, helva derken zor bitirdik, 3 kişi 50TL verdik. Tekrar yola koyulduğumuzda Bulak köyünden mağaraya giden yolun kapalı olduğunu öğrendik, Safranbolu tarafından gitmemiz gerekiyormuş. O yöne dönünce mağaradan önce Tokatlı Kanyonu’na uğradık. Kanyon sonbahar renkleriyle çok güzeldi, giriş 2.5TL, kristal teras’a çıkış ise 3 liraydı, ama bence kristal teras o doğal manzarayı öyle bir bozuyordu ki aklıma Eyfel kulesini hiç sevmediği halde kule sadece oradan görünmediği için sürekli Eyfel Kulesinde oturan şairi getirdi. Kanyonda biraz yürüdük, güzeldi ama Ihlara Vadisi'ne gittiyseniz buradan pek etkilenmezsiniz, zamanınız kısıtlıysa burayı es geçip Safranbolu'ya daha çok vakit ayırabilirsiniz. Bulak Mencilis Mağarası’na vardığımızda ise hava kararmak üzereydi ama akşam 8’e kadar giriş yapılabiliyordu. Giriş yine 3 TL civarıydı, mağara beklediğimden büyüktü (Dim Mağarası mı daha büyük burası mı diye tartışıp galiba Dim diye bitirdik) ama daha iyi bir aydınlatmayla daha etkileyici yapılabilirmiş içerisi, bir de yerler çok kaygan dikkatli olmak lazım. İçerde yarasa da gördük, bence güzel oldu ama yarasadan korkuyorsanız yapacak bir şey yok :)

Safrabolu'ya varınca pansiyon sahibini daha fazla bekletmemek için önce pansiyona uğradık, oda kahvaltı kişi başı 50TL'ye bir yer bulmuştuk, çift olarak gidecekseniz gitmeden arayıp evli olmayan çift kabul ediyorlar mı diye sormakta fayda var, bazı yerler kabul etmiyor ne yazık ki. Sonra biraz dolaşmaya çıktık, sokaklar boştu ama atmosfer çok güzeldi; beklediğimizden iyi durumdaki evler, arnavut kaldırımları, demirciler çarşısının otantikliği ve yanındaki vadi, birkaç yüzyıl öncesinde geziyor gibiydik. Ertesi gün de gündüz gözüyle gördük şehri. Tahminimizden daha büyük ve daha güzeldi, her girdiğimiz yerde lokum ikramı ve yemek yiyeceğimiz zaman teyzelerin bir de benim tarhanamı deneyin ısrarı bizi lokum ve tarhanaya doyurdu. Yemek yemek dışında Kaymakamlar gezi evinde o evlerin eskiden nasıl kullanıldığını görebilir, saat kulesine çıkıp yıllardır o saati ayarma işini yapan amcayı dinleyebilir (şimdi kent müzesi olan eski hükümet konağına girilen biletle saat kulesine de çıkılıyor) ve hıdırlık tepesinden Safranbolu’yu kuş bakışı izleyebilirsiniz (peki burada manzara izlemenin 2 tl olmasına ne demeli? Neyse.).

Ama gezimizin en can alıcı noktalarından biri safran çiftliği ziyaretimizdi. Şehir müzzesinde safran hasadının Ekim-Kasım aylarında yapıldığını görünce buraya kadar gelmişken safran çiçeğini bir de canlı canlı görelim dedik ve sora sora bir köy bulduk. Havakararmak üzere olduğu için çiçeklerin çoğu kapanmıştı, ama gündüz gitseymişiz tarlayı mosmor görebilirmişiz. Toplanan çiçekleri yaprak, her yerde satılan turuncu kısmı ve neyde kullandıklarını şu an unuttuğum sarı kısmı olarak üçe ayıran teyzeler vardı çiftlikte. Hemen safran çayı ikram edip çiftliği anlatmaya başladılar, çok hoştu.Ve sonuç olarak Safranbolu tekrar gitmemiz gereken yerler listesine eklendi.

I write my travels here to not to forget the details, but the rest came when I did not write a few places, so I can not write in chronological order anymore. This post is about Safranbolu which we visited on the last week of October.

Before Safranbolu, we went to Bulak village to go to Bulak Mencilis Cave, which is 8km away from there. The houses there were like the houses of Safranbolu, you can see them in the first photo. As we had our breakfast at Istanbul, we were hungry. Thus, we asked to a man where we could eat, and he recommended a place named Bulak Sofrası. We found the place, but it was open based on a reservation, the people living in the area make reservation there for their special days. There were baklava-preparing villager women inside, one of them told us that guests cannot be sent hungry and she brought us some food they already have. First, we had a special tarhana soup, which is famous in this region, then half a tray of borek (su böreği), and a teapot of tea, home pickles, halvah, we hardly finished all of these, and paid 50TL in total. It was a very beautiful place. I would suggest you to call the place before going, but i don't think they speak English. Here is the number: 0370433 1313.

When we were on the road again, we learnt that the road between Bulak and the cave was closed, and we need to take the road from Safranbolu direction. So we changed our direction and stopped by at Tokatlı Canyon first. Canyon was beautiful with autumn colors. Entrance was 2.5TL, and entrance to the crystal terrace was 3TL. I think the crystal terrace does not fit with the nature. The Parisian poet who doesn't like Eiffel tower and goes up the tower as it is the only place he doesnt see the Eiffel tower came to my mind. We had some walk in the canyon, but if you have been to Ihlara Valley, Tokatlı Canyon won't impress you much, so if you have limited time, you can skip visiting the canyon and have more time for Safranbolu. When we finally arrived to Bulak Mencilis Cave, it was about to become dark, but you can visit it until 8pm and entrance fee was about 3TL. It was a big cave and you can see some bats, hope you are not afraid of them:)

As soon as we arrived to Safranbolu, we went to our pension to not make the owner wait for us. Pension was 50TL with breakfast per person for a night. After we started to stroll on the streets, and the atmosphere was very nice; well restored beautiful houses, cobblestone roads, the authenticity of the blacksmith bazaar and the valley next to it made us feel as if we were walking in couple of centuries back. The next day when we saw the city in daylight, we noticed it is larger and more beautiful than we expected. Wherever we go, we were offered to have some loukums and whenever we wanted to eat something, villager women were asking us to try their tarhana soup as well. So, at the end of the day, we were full with loukums and tarhana soup. Aside from eating, you can visit Kaymakamlar gezi evi to see how these houses were used, go up of the clock tower (the old man working here tells all the details, but in Turkish, and you can enter to the tower with the same ticket you get for the city museum), and watch the amazing view from Hıdırlık tepesi (dont surprise when they ask 2 tl for just watching the view, this is Turkey:/ ).

However the most special point of the trip was visiting a saffron farm. In the city museum we learnt that saffron harvest is done in October-November, so we decided to see a farm and found one in one of the nearby villages by asking people. Most of the flowers were closed because it was getting dark, but we could have seen purple fields, if we had arrived earlier. The villager women offered us some saffron tea and talked about the harvest, it was a nice experience. To sum up, we added Safranbolu to the list of the places we have to go again!
