I've just fallen head over heels in love with Mill Point Caffè Book Shop! Yummiest cold drip coffee, the glass was rimmed with sugar, and it had a slice of orange in it.

Paleo Chocolate Mousse So easy… Just chuck two avocados, 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, a pinch of sea salt, and the scraping from a vanilla bean into a blender. Yum! It’s pretty rich, so I reckon this would be perfect with some raspberries.
My darling hoggie makes me birthday roast. Yum!
Lazy Saturday afternoon...
If it fits, I sits.
The Pulp Cafe- Perth
Coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee!
In case you can’t tell, I love coffee.
And on long hot summer days in Perth, I love COLD coffee!
And that’s exactly what drew me into The Pulp Cafe on Friday morning. Well that and the adorable pastries!
This place has such an adorable set up, with the coffee being made on an island in the centre of the store. The vibe was fantastic, it was clear a lot of the customers were regulars, as the staff were chatting with them like old friends.
Despite knowing my poor tummy would pay for it later, I ordered an apple strudel with my cold brew (I’m a sucker for any desserty things made in-house), and it did not disappoint. The strudel was tasty, but the cream was the star surprisingly! The vanilla infused cream was so rich, almost like a custard. I must have looked like I was enjoying it, because one of the staff came over to offer me some more!
My coffee had a gorgeous, rich flavour with a fruity sort of feel too it. I wish I’d had more time to sit and have another! On my way out I couldn’t resist grabbing some of the fruity shortbread biscuits to bring to work as a little treat for my colleagues. They didn’t even last long enough to get a picture.
I’ll definitely be back! 😄
Willie Wagtail
I had the most lovely coffee experience the other day and I just had to share!
I was feeling tired and cranky and this sign seemed like... well... a sign! On a typical Perth morning, hot coffee offen doesn't feel quite right. I love that I'm finding so many places starting to do cold drip as an alternative to milky iced coffee. Willie Wagtail's offering did not disappoint, that was a seriously tasty coffee! Beautiful rich flavour, and so refreshing! The staff were just gorgeous. Quick, friendly service, with that hipster vibe that just screams, "We knew what an aeropress was before everyone jumped on the bandwagon." And I loved having a little sit down in their adorable courtyard before heading off to work.
The food options were looking pretty tempting, but that amount of bread was never going to end well for me. However, I almost caved when I saw that 'Bacon Bad Boy.'
So basically, for anyone who needs that morning pick me up (or mid-morning. Or afternoon-y. Or just love good coffee), Willie Wagtail is just on William St in Perth CBD, near the train station, and you won't be disappointed!
Paleo Shepherd's Pie!
Some days you just need comfort food.
And I never thought I’d say this, but there are times when you just don’t feel like cake!
So today’s little mission was a shepherd’s pie that wouldn’t upset my delicate tummy. The kind of thing that feels like your tummy is giving you a hug from the inside. And it was a massive success, if I do say so myself.
As with everything I make, it is pretty easy.
Ingredients: 500g mince 2 carrots 2 sticks of celery 1 onion 4 cloves of garlic Grass-fed butter for frying 1 teaspoon of cumin 1cup of beef stock 1/4 cup of red wine 2 tablespoons of tomato paste 12 potatoes
First, preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
I browned the mince first, then the garlic and onion together. It could probably all be done at once, but I’m fussy.
I popped the carrot and celery in the pan with the cumin, wine, stock, and tomato paste. After a few minutes I added in the mince, garlic and onion.
While this was cooking, I peeled and chopped the potatoes and put them on to boil.
Once the mince mess has thickened, transfer to baking dish. Once potatoes are nice and soft, drain and mash with salt and grass-fed butter. Quantities will depend on personal taste.
Spread mash evenly onto beef in baking dish and put it in the oven for about 30 minutes.
Then it is time to sit down with a glass of that wine that you opened for the cooking and can’t let go to waste! Today’s selection is a Stakehill Estate Durif. Yum!!!
I must say, I’m pretty pleased with the result!
Enjoy!
