Bunnie/Antoine Drabble 002
Flower Girl an Archie Sonic/Nu252 continuity fanfic
Bunnie had never felt happier. Her guardian, Rosie the woodchuck, was about to marry Sir Charles the Hedgehog. Even though he was a famous inventor he'd always been kind and approachable, preferring to be called "Uncle Chuck" by everyone who knew him.
As the flower girl Bunnie was wearing a new pink gown, thoughtfully picked out (and secretly paid for) by Princess Sally Acorn, heir to the throne. Bunnie didn't care that she wasn't heir to anything in particular, she had her friends and her soon-to-be official family. It was nice, milling around in the courtyard, waiting for all the guests to arrive.
Her eyes lit up as her favorite friend walked in, Antoine the coyote.
"Morning, sugar. What do you think?" Bunnie twirled around in her wheelchair. She was still a bit awkward on her robotic limbs but getting stronger every day.
Antoine's eyes widened. "Mon Dieu, tu es éblouissante." he replied, almost without thinking. Bunnie waited to see if he would translate it, he did not. She smiled. It must have been high praise indeed.
"I can't wait for the ceremony. It's gonna be perfect." Bunnie declared.
"Mais oui. It will be grand." Antoine agreed. He looked a bit nervous. "But ah, is it not bad luck to be seeing you before then?" he fretted.
"Some say it's bad luck to see the bride, sugar." Bunnie informed him. "You can see the flower girl at any time."
A blue streak sped by. "And don't forget the ringbearer, the best part of all." Sonic grinned. Above all else, he knew how to make an entrance.
"I would rather be seeing ze flower girl." Antoine muttered softly, annoyed that their time alone was interrupted.
"Sup, Bunnie. You look great." Sonic winked at her.
"And what of me?" Antoine snarled.
"You look terrible. Even a dress wouldn't help." Sonic joked. Antoine frowned, must that hedgehog ruin everything?
"Don't start fighting now, boys. We've still got to get ready for the wedding. They haven't even taken the pictures yet." Bunnie reminded them. She started to wheel herself towards the gazebo where the photographer was motioning for everyone to get ready.
"Let me help, you'll get there faster with a push." Sonic promised, grabbing one of the handles.
Antoine grabbed the other one. "I can do zat! I am being very pushy." Antoine asserted.
Sonic let go unexpectedly. "You said it, not me." he laughed. Antoine nearly stumbled but kept his grip. Bunnie was relieved the chair didn't tip over, but she was still mad at the boys for arguing and being reckless.
"Not so rough!" she scolded.
"Pardonne-moi." Antoine looked suitably chagrined, but Sonic was as cocky and carefree as ever.
"Yeah, yeah, sorry 'bout all that." Sonic replied quickly.
"All zat? You could have hurt mademoiselle Bunnie!" Antoine grumped. He gasped. "I could have hurt her!" His knees buckled at the realization.
"And you're only just figuring that out now? Dang, you are slow!" Sonic chuckled as Antoine stood there, frozen in horror. "Heh, see you at the gazebo, slowpokes!" He sped off before Antoine found his voice.
"B-bunnie, I really did not mean…" Antoine stammered.
"It's alright, Antoine. I forgive you." Bunnie reached for his hand and gave a reassuring squeeze.
"Tu es une fille très gentille." Antoine smiled as they began to move forward. "And ze wedding pictures, zey will be magnifique."
"Thanks, sugar." Bunnie grinned playfully. "…You know they'll have to take a few of me with Sonic, don't you?"
"Porquoi?" Antoine could barely believe it.
"We're in the wedding together, that's why. He'll have to walk down the aisle with me, too." Bunnie mused.
"Ridiculous!" Antoine scoffed. "Next time zere is being a wedding, you will be with me."
Bunnie giggled. It would be awhile before Antoine realized the implications of his statement, and she could hardly wait for it.
They reached the gazebo where Uncle Chuck and a tearful Rosie ran towards them. "Bunnie, sweetie! I'm so sorry, Sonic told me you nearly had an accident!" Rosie looked at her frantically. "You're not hurt, are you?"
"I'm fine, Miss Rosie. You don't have to fuss." Bunnie insisted. "Didn't even get my dress dirty."
"That's my girl. Tough as nails." Uncle Chuck smiled. "I knew she'd be all right."
"Oh thank goodness." Rosie kissed Bunnie on the forehead. "You're very dear to me and Chuck."
Antoine stood by awkwardly. He wanted to say that she was dear to him, too. But perhaps this wasn't the time for it.
"Places everyone! Wedding party only!" the photographer's voice rang out.
"That means you gotta am-scray." Sonic pointed to Antoine.
Antoine was bewildered. What could am-scray possibly mean?
"Well if we're starting with the ringbearer and the flower girl, I might as well sit this one out, too." Uncle Chuck grabbed the confused coyote by the wrist and gently led him aside. "She looks good, doesn't she?" Uncle Chuck whispered.
Antoine nodded. "She does."
"But I take it you don't think much of the boy beside her, eh?" Uncle Chuck prodded.
"C'est un imbécile." Antoine spat with as much venom as a 10 year old boy could spew.
"I felt the same way whenever I saw other fellas look at my Rosie." Uncle Chuck confided. "Not that I had anything to worry about, of course! A girl can have many friends, but there's always one she fancies more than the others. She'll make her choice known soon enough."
The camera whirred as Sonic dashed about, making dramatic pose after dramatic pose. Nearly everyone was glued to the hedgehog's antics. But, as Uncle Chuck wisely noted, Bunnie's eyes were on Antoine.
The End
I wasn't sure I would write another fanfic in this universe, but here we are. I think spring is the best time for a wedding. I do miss the old Archie Sonic comics, and I hope this brings a smile to your face when you read it. :)
Buntoine Snuggles
It's time for bed, and there's only one pillow! Though before Antoine can get up to get another one, Bunnie stops him - there's already a perfect pillow for her right here~

"N-now cherie, you know how I get when you use your robo-limbs like zat...!"
"Sugah-'Twan, that is exactly the idea."
Part of a series of Shipping Challenge Prompts for @robotnik-mun, this time depicting Bunnie and Antoine in the iconic "kabedon" pose; I hadn't originally planned for Bunnie's extendable robo-limbs to play into the scene, but once I realized it made aligning the poses as needed a lot easier, I decided to really lean into the curve and I had a lot of fun with it.
Got any Shipping Prompt ideas of your own? Feel free to send them my way!
