Wowowowowowoww I’m blogging again (kind of).

I do really need an instagram husband to take all my photos though, cause using a selfie stick and my front camera is not ideal. But I wanted to get this done while I still had the energy and sunlight to shoot in my apartment!

I was first introduced to BUNZ at my friend Ama’s New Years party. She was stoked to share that on her most recent flight out of Pearson, she was able to hang in the Priority Lounge, thanks to a pass from a fellow Bun, which she got in exchange for two TTC tokens. She went on to explain that BUNZ was a no-cash Facebook trading group, and that you could basically find anything you could dream of on there- in my time, I have seen everything from (unused) sex toys, to bicycles, to plants and food, clothes and furniture, random vintage items, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g and anything.

While the Facebook group itself was harder to access, they had also launched an app and a website, which I joined as soon as I got home. I scrolled through listings, noting items that I thought were cool and might have an interest in. I also started a stockpile of items to trade- mostly clothes I had no interest in or that didn’t fit anymore, and started snapping pics to upload them to the app.

My first trade was what they call a #truetrade- I had something to get rid of, they had something on their profile I wanted, so we swapped. I’ve had many true trades, and some that requested specific items (the most common bunz currencies are TTC tokens and tallcans of beer, sometimes people ask for giftcards, and despite the no-cash rule, I’ve even made some cash deals for larger items, such as my bed, which was bunzed the weekend I moved to my new place).

But BUNZ is more than just trading, it’s definitely a community. There are several “zones”- personally, I’m part of Spoonie (for chronically ill people), Helping (for random inquiries and asking for help), Anger and Venting (for your ranty goodness), Super Happy Love (for happy stories, good days, and cute things), Employment and Entrepreneur (for finding and sharing jobs and paid gigs), Makeup and Hair zones, Dating zone, and finally, the Curvy Bunz clothing swap zone for the plus size and fat acceptance babes. Which brings me to the above photos!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a clothing swap hosted by the Curvy Bunz group. I took a giant bag of things I hadn’t yet traded but no longer wanted or needed, and walked out with my bag back full of new items for my closet. I was also excited to meet some awesome babes and hang out too! Got to see the babely Vanessa (Miss Fuller Woman Canada 2016) and put some faces to names of Bunz who I had become internet friends with in other threads on Facebook groups.

It’s hard for me to even decide what my favourite piece I got was! I love the pink button down top with the cats, (photo 5), the vintage 70′s midi dress (photo 12), and of course, the BUNZ shirt in the top photo!

Swapping is a great way to add to your wardrobe, and it’s given me the opportunity to meet some awesome people (in fact, my next post is about another BUNZ mate so stay tuned).
