But now Foodgod’s fired off a legal letter cutting ties with the brand, as a new report claims that [Burgerim] aggressively signed up inexperienced franchisees — with apparently no substantial plans to actually run the business once they’d forked over the franchise fee. Many of the alleged victims were “teachers, cooks, accountants [and] police officers,” according to the report, “many of whom drained savings accounts and retirement accounts to pay their fee.”  The report in Restaurant Business describes “an aggressive sales organization that convinced more than 1,200 people to each hand over tens of thousands of dollars.” It opened 200 locations in four years — almost all of which are now closed.

Burgerim was a scam designed to steal franchise fees!  When I moved, I noticed I was moving to a neighborhood with FOUR Burgerims in it-- I was going nuts trying to figure out how there could be so many Burgerim’s overnight in this city and the answer was SCAM.  I ate at Burgerim’s a bunch of times by my office and I had liked the one by my office before it closed suddenly-- but then when I had another Burgerim, after I moved, the entire thing was completely different and horrible. None of it had made any sense, before this article!  It was a Con job!  IT WAS A BURGER CON!  (X)

Dearborn burger franchise founded in Israel delays opening after backlash, threats, by Anna Bauman,

A franchise of Israeli burger chain Burgerim will not open since it received backlash from the community in Dearborn.

A franchisee has delayed the scheduled opening of his Burgerim restaurant in Dearborn amid backlash from the Arab-American community over the popular burger company’s Israeli roots.

Sam Zahr, a Lebanese-American who lives in Dearborn, said he was too worried to open the restaurant on Greenfield Road after his kids were bullied and he received threatening messages from those opposed to the burger chain founded in Israel.

The Dearborn Burgerim location has stirred controversy for months, striking at the heart of the charged debate over Israeli-Palestinian relations. The announced restaurant opening has elicited back-and-forth comments on Facebook posts from those spreading the message to boycott and others just hoping for a good burger.

Burgerim, which means "many burgers" in Hebrew, specializes in mini burgers of different types of meat. It's headquartered in Encino, California, but was founded in Israel with its first location in Tel Aviv. The growing company has franchise locations across the U.S., Israel, and Europe, and has been publicized by media outlets in places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Antonio.

A Burgerim location in Royal Oak also owned by Zahr has not experienced as much opposition, he said. He decided to step away from the Dearborn location since he has two others — one in Oak Park and another in Redford Township — scheduled to open this month.

Two points missing from the article: 

1. This is written in an even handed manner. But if anyone objected to the opening of a “Palestinian” restaurant in any of the other suburbs of Detroit, they would be portrayed as a bigot - no questions asked.

2. A lot of space is given to Israel hater and Rashida Tlaib’s pal, Amer Zahr, to slander Israel. This is where the even-handedness ends as there are no facts to  counter Zahr’s lies.
