top 5 musicals?

It’s the hardest question of all!

I’m just going to go with stage musicals because then I’d have to figure in film musicals and then that adds even more difficult layers. And this isn’t going to be in any particular order.

1. A Chorus Line- Is this basically like putting Casablanca as your favorite film? Sure. It’s like the gold standard of American Musical Theatre. But, c’mon is like perfect. All the characters are interesting. The music is great. It’s funny. It’s moving. I feel like musical theatre kids these days don’t know it very well?

2. Six- So I’ve been obsessed with this recently. Could any musical be any more perfectly tailored to my niche interests? It’s a pop-style, feminist telling where the Six Wives of Henry VIII tell their own stories.

3. Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812- Listen, I love weird shit. And Josh Groban. And this musical helped me a lot with my post-college depression

4. Hamilton/In the Heights- it’s hard to pick between them. They’re both about the immigrant experience in different ways. Hamilton is technically better in most categories, but In the Heights feels really personal and I have a soft spot for it.

5. American Idiot- Well, hello there giant loop. If any musical shows perfectly what it was like growing up in the Bush administration, it’s American Idiot. The music is fantastic, of course. But the original production had AMAZING set and lighting design. Also the whole “Give Me Novoicane” sequence still stays in my mind.

what I remember is that Javier Bardem did a great job being a big scary man who kills people with a cattle gun (or a compressed air thing? idr). Other than that, I was bored. and didn’t it end with a character saying “and then I woke up”? I remember everyone was pissed at that lmao

(caveats: ill be real I saw it with a big group of friends in someone’s living room when I was 18, which was uhhhh TWELVE YEARS AGO JESUS. so tbf I wasn’t paying 100% attention and I don’t remember much)

37. Share an unpopular film opinion you have.

Idk if it’s unpopular or not but I hate found footage horror films. A serial killer or a creepy monster is chasing us, about to violently murder everyone? Let’s keep filming instead of running for our lives! They just piss me off lol. The only found footage film I liked was Grave Encounters.

44. Most movies watched in a single day

When we still lived close to each other with my bff, we used to watch movies all day every weekend. I don’t know how many movies we watched a day, but now that she lives 6 hours away, I really miss our movie weekends 😔

46. A film that always makes you laugh

It: Chapter Two 😄 (it always makes me cry too…)

47. Movies that you think everyone should watch (not necessarily your favorites)

Shelter (2007). It’s not some deep movie with important life lessons and stuff like that. It’s a wholesome movie with a happy ending and it always makes me feel better when I’m sad. If you want to watch a cute movie about two boys in love, I recommend this one!

in the boarding school au i also want sort of a mean girls thing where like.. gilf is definitely smart enough to not need jareds help (hes just flunking bc he thinks its cool or whatever) but he secretly likes having an excuse to spend time w jared bc otherwise why would he be hanging out w such a (cute) nerd all the time.......

YES and Jared can tell Gilf is smart enough to pass his classes without any help so he’s always just like “what are you doing, I know you know this and you don’t need my help, is this all the setup to some awful joke?”
