seeing friends have kids and seeing what they share about anxiety after giving birth makes my heart go out to them and also reaffirms my own personal reasons to stay childfree (which are varied)

#knight’s personal life #we are getting apt ready for a cat #and truly like. before i begin pets are not children.#but!!!!#getting things ready for something that i and rom partner will take care of has been really cool and reflective #and i think become another space for me to feel validated in the personal conclusions i have come to for myself #my aquatic pets are wonderful and having a cat will be all i need for life that is completely dependent on me #i just think like. as I’m looking around our upstairs and thinking about the ways to cat proof it #i feel like the sacrifices (maybe a dramatic word but like you get it)#are worth it and something i can and want to handle #sometimes i feel silly bc like. it’s not the same as a kid and kids are seen as like. The Thing to Have #but if im honest with myself that’s not the kind of life i want to pour my time into #i want to garden and take care of my pets and coexist with loved ones #idk im just babbling #rom partner and i building the cat tower together like.#wow i think this feels a little like what i imagine building a crib feels like #eagerness and tenderness to make something soft and sturdy and good for little life on the way #wow this got sappy #anyways

getting progress of a commission but I've never commissioned something like this and they still haven't told me the price and now they actually put work into it so I can't back out if it's more than expected and ahhhh I mean it does look cool in concept and I do want it but pleasbe let me budget for this correctly

#like I don't. know what to expect. for price #because this is literally a commission from a brand I saw at a tiny convention I went to for school #and it seemed like their first day existing #but!!!!#they had a reallyyyy cool punk jacket #and I was like #do you sell these or is this just for display #and the guy was like #'you can't have this one BUT!!! we make them custom. no pattern literally just vibes and hand sewing'#and it looked awesome #so I was like #I'll definitely commission one #but they won't tell me the price #how much can one expect a custom handmade tailored garment to cost 😦#if it's $500 or something I'm gonna be SCARED #though I assume if it's that high they'd say that upfront #I literally don't knowwwww it could literally be whatever it could be 1k #they had t-shirts for $50 that's what scares me #they made the most beautiful mockup drawing for it #so now there's work put into it #and it looks incredible #but pleasbe how do I politely but forcefully ask for a quote #I guess I'll definitely ask before they start making the thing #I'm scared and don't know how to be normal 😭

@blightedcrow not to call you out, but you made SUCH a good point. There's a specific type of player who not only disparage Dawntrail, but they're also the type of player who hate on ARR and Stormblood in the same breath. The way they go about it makes it seem like they don't like anything about FFXIV except SHB and parts of EW (and at length maybe a bit of HW). That's nearly nine years of FFXIV's 13 year lifespan that they don't like. There is such a curious overlap of this demographic and I start wondering why they're playing at all. Are they enjoying it, or are they just waiting for that one character they like to be in the spotlight?

This might seem really passive aggressive (and I've reached a point where I don't fucking care anymore, there's a subset of people who have such insane bad faith takes that if they feel called out, I'm glad). You don't have to wait for SHB and EW to enjoy FFXIV. If you don't like it at any point before that and after that then well.. you know?
