Exactly in a month from now, RIVAGES LOINTAINS - Adam will release in France, by Dargaud 🩵

I am so excited and terrified and extatic that his story will finally hit the shelves.

Maybe it is time to reveal a bit of the plot:

In 1922, Adam Czar arrives in America.

By 1963, Adam Czar is one of the owners of the successful Bettin'Blitz casino, alongside his best friend Peter Hetman. He lives in Las Vegas, with his wife Madeline Kaye-Czar, an art afficionado, with whom he seems to have a strange pact. The shadows of the past are simply shadows. Finally, all is well.

Success comes at the expanse of many, and success is a loop, and a loop means you'll always hit rock bottom again.

When an unexpected news hit in 1965, Adam is forced to reflect on his life, and what it costs to keep on going. Keep on dancing, play the game. For how long?

I hope you'll enjoy this story. I don't know how much to reveal, as I hope you'll be a bit surprised.

Hmmm, probably something that sounds silly but he'd actually take seriously, like how baking could help reduce recidivism and improve crime statistics (there are actual programs dedicated to that like Laughing Bear Bakery or The Good Loaf)

Hahaha you know what, yeah! He might not be great at mimicking people's voices, but he's pretty good at replicating their body language and capturing their overall vibe. If you ask him he can impersonate the most annoying customers he's met, making fun of their pretentious orders and mannerisms (gotta cope with customer service hell somehow)

My ass misread 18 as 15 and only noticed it rn so I'm gonna answer this one instead cause I couldn't come up with an inside joke for them, sorry 😭

15. How has their relationship changed over time?

I think their whole friendship is just a slow process of learning how to be accepted by someone else while discovering a lot about yourself along the way. Of course in the beginning, their relationship was more transactional. But you know how a cat isn't allowed to sit somewhere yet still tries to sneak in by sitting nearby and just slooowly inching closer while looking completely innocent as if you couldn't possibly notice? Yeah that's Cecile hahaha. And Maro (surprisingly) never found any reason to consider Cecile dangerous, so he just let it happen and then eventually found himself caring in return

They were both lost and miserable at the time, so finding someone who wouldn't demand anything from you, who would simply stay nearby to make sure you were okay (or at least be miserable together) was a huge relief. Over time it turned into a steady friendship that feels like family

Btw, I asked myself if I see them romantically together at any point and I think the answer is more no than yes. In some kind of au where they're both single for some reason, I can imagine them becoming a bit more emotionally intimate, but it's more like "Let's pretend we're married if we're still single when we're 50 or something, just to avoid questions" kind of vibes

30. An adventure they went on together?

I keep thinking about the idea of them visiting Bjorn and Lucas in the countryside and having a not-so-fancy cottagecore holiday

I imagine Bjorn wouldn't let Lucas go all in with the fancy stuff, so they probably bought an average country house and would appreciate a bit of help with all the mundane tasks. You know Lucas would love to make everything aesthetic and cozy, but life always gets in the way. So until the guest room is finished, they have to share the squeakiest spring bed imaginable with one pillow and a bunch of wool blankets. But they don't mind (and it's the best sleep of their lives)

They're just happy to help Bjorn and Lucas to settle in: fixing the roof, taking care of the garden, having early breakfasts in the tiniest kitchen and going out to gather eggs and vegetables. Maro gets to chop wood and does it so quickly and with such terrifying precision that everyone gets a little concerned. And you know Cecile befriended every animal they had and couldn't eat meat for weeks afterward because he felt bad

They probably also had to weed the entire potato field. No one escapes gardening duty (That's definitely me projecting my experience of being sent to my grandparents' country house every year when I was younger)

I have so many headcanons about this but I'm not sure how to present them properly, maybe I should try sketching them hahah
