Dan Da Dan's message about violence toward women and girls, especially sexual violence, would probably works better if the sexual harassment and assault of the teenage main characters, especially Ken's, wasn't played for laughters.

Just, the fact that the first time I tried to give it a shot, I put the manga down because of the way the sexual assaults of the main characters was treated. And, since then, I have never heard about the aspect of the story about women, only jokes about Ken's missing balls, demonstrating how the jokes about his SA and sexual harassment have a bigger impact on the audience than the message about violence toward women.

Like, do people understand that an old spirit taking his genitals from him, everyone asking to check his genitals, and the jokes about his genitals because they aren't "normal", all of that is sexual assault and harassment. Yes, irl, a spirit cannot steal your genitals, but a lot of people, especially minors, do go through surgeries and modifications of their genitals they did not consent to. Laughing at people's genitals is body shaming, and even intersexist and transphobic. Many boys grow up feeling insecure about their genitals because of these kind of jokes. And the lack of personal privacy accorded to him, the fact that nobody is shamed for asking to see his genitals, it's normalizing that boys and men cannot say "no", that they cannot be assaulted, and that women acting this way toward boys is acceptable.
