every time i see some modern fantasy/mystic movie that claims - so much thought was put into this, i want to say ‘bitch where?’. you get all that CGI and green screen and you claim about creativity. because in my mind, nothing can top creativity of movies from 80′s, if we speak fantasy I say big two, LL: Legend and Labyrinth.

just the fireplace itself is a fuking masterpiece, all those columns and most importantly, it’s all real. how do you top that? people were creative on how to make things happen because they didn’t have means. now people have means but most of the movies are unimpressive. the cgi is faster and more cost-effective, reasonable, but the feeling of something real gets so lost that it stops to be impressive and the feeling of fakeness grows stronger. and no one wants to put much into production because nowadays the PR is double the production costs. meaning it’s not about the movie content, it’s about which manager has better selling campaign. if you look closer at the hype and controversies created around some titles you’ll understand what i’m talking about.
