Hii <3!! Little more of a personal question so feel free to delete this or not answer it if you feel comfortable!! But I was curious about your writing process for a lot of these whilst being ace :o?
For me: I'm greysexual and aegosexual and only recently began to understand how I experience sexual attraction (and other things tied with it). Before I explored myself in that context, I was honestly really afraid to consume any content related to sexual topics– not even just sexual, slightly risqué or suggestive too. It felt uncomfortable.. But, not because I was ace, I didn't know I was yet. I think it's because so many people around me discussed how they experienced sexual attraction, and I just didn't experience it in that way..
Once I figured out I was ace, I became a lot more comfortable after with sexual content, maybe since I understood my feelings and what I enjoyed, didn't enjoy and other complicated sorta feeling type things. I actually started exploring my own original characters with their sexual preferences in mind and not shying away from the topic as much, even if it doesn't really come up in the series I'm creating at all. It's something I've truly enjoyed exploring with my characters, I think it gives them a bit more depth in a way I wouldn't have understood before... Despite not even experiencing that attraction in that way myself.
In a way, I think accepting being greysexual and aegosexual helped me understand the diversity of sexuality and how it's experienced so vastly differently between a lot of people that's not really talked about.
I also think why I take comfort so much monster relationship content and why I'm so drawn to it is related to me being ace. I LOVE MONSTERS JUST IN GENERAL ALWAYS HAVE!! But after figuring out I was ace, I took comfort in them in a different way. I feel like outcasted and out of place in both allo and ace circles, and it's really isolating.. But, honestly I get a lot of comfort from monster relationship scenario, fics, things like that. I think it's because the community itself understands what it's like to be different and experience attraction that's "strange" so even though a lot of is stuff I'm not into specifically, I enjoy reading them because it's like unconventional attraction and the creators themselves REALLY understand it.. At least in spaces I hang around in. I love everything it represents hehe. But also, feeling isolated by humankind itself I am just kinda like SIGH MAN IF I JUST HAD A WEREWOLF PARTNER THEY'D GET IT AND RESPECT IT AND WE'D LITERALLY BE SOULMATES AND CRAZY ABOUT EACHOTHER AND MY PREFERENCES WOULD WORK OUT AND I WOULDN'T FEEL PRESSURED TO DO ANYTHING.. LMAOO anywya..
I take a lot of comfort reading your work specifically and feel a bit more at home because MONSTERS WOOOO!! But also reading your work and knowing you're ace makes me feel seen and a little less alone <3..
But I was just curious about if your asexuality has any impact on your writing, since for mine when I accepted myself I became more comfortable and I think it let's me write sexual intimacy and content despite not really experiencing or wanting it myself much.
Hi there anon! I do love to talk about my asexuality bc it took me a long time to recognize it 😂 So I've never really experienced sexual attraction in a normal way, I think. And this understanding came after a lot of questioning from me to my friends, who very happily answered my questions bc they are the best. So I ended up discovering I really didn't feel that for people, I do feel arousal, but it's not mediated through attraction. I don't really know how to explain it, but well.
I write smut for the love of the game, to be honest. I think once you take attraction out of the framework, everything you do is more interesting because I explore other ways. Are those ways better? Not sure, but they are my way, so there's that. Also the autism, because I'm that kind of spicy. So I think my asexuality and my autism are also why I like monsters because 1) not accessible so easy to play with, and 2) I feel like a monster myself a lot of times because of the otherness. I've talked about that a lot already so I don't want to bore y'all with it. But to summarize it: I do think my asexuality shapes the way I write, because it also shapes the way I interact with others.
Also, thank you, I'm so very glad I created a safe little corner of the internet where you feel comfortable being yourself. ❤️❤️❤️
