Me: I think scrolling Tumblr is starting to trigger my OCD in ways I can only really manage by removing it from my routine. I should at least consider remaking my blog with more robust boundaries for my mental health, if not deleting my account entirely and swearing off social media.

#personal#vent#sonder rambles#I deleted X/Twitter when it started doing this#though that was much more aggressive and obviously intended to do that sort of thing... there was ragebait everywhere#I deleted TikTok when it started to wear on my mental health too#I moved to an app that allows you to have and enforce boundaries when YouTube started affecting me#it also gives them less direct viewership while still giving me access to series I like#... when YouTube doesn't shut it down#I shied away from Bluesky when it looked like it was going to trigger OCD issues too#and somehow I'm able to control myself easier when I need boundaries for Reddit#but Tumblr...#I can't seem to develop better boundaries or leave#and it's making leaving look more and more necessary#granted#it is refreshing that most of the triggers and problems here are unintentional#just people being people and I'm the one with issues#unlike on X where everything was ragebait and propaganda and scams and ads on purpose#and TikTok where it was like being trapped in a fairy circle and coming out having lost something because that's how it's designed#Tumblr is just a place with too many people talking to/at/over/past each other at cross-purposes#with unclear and/or opposing definitions of things#I'm aware that under the surface it's much more than that#there are deeper problems here#but on the surface that's the general scrolling experience#the scams are tacked on rather than baked in#the ragebait is at least more artfully orchestrated if it's purposeful at all#the misinformation is often caught by those who talk at/over/past each other calling for fact checks#there are tools that allow for the implementation and enforcement of personal boundaries that other sites don't have#but even with all these improvements... it's still causing problems and I need to do something about that#I just need to stop sabotaging myself
