W H Y. B U Y? Have you ever bought original art before? If so, why did you buy it? As an artist mostly I don't think about if I will sell a piece or not when I'm making my work but if it feels good, if something sparks, if aesthetically I think it sits well. I want my art to resonate with me, for it to feel like it comes from a place of passion and love. But, I do occasionally think after I've made is piece "I wonder if people will feel the same way I do? Will they feel the passion? Will they love it too?" I don't let these thought affect what I create but I, like many people about lots of things, want people to feel connected. So, back to my original question. Why did you buy that piece of art you bought? Did it make you feel a certain way? Did you have affinities with the artists methods or reasons for making their work? Did you think not much more than you like it and it'll look good in your living room? I've recently bought a few pieces from a few artists I know and a few I don't know. I had different feelings with each piece. Some I bought because the piece made me feel calm and happy, others because I wanted to support other makers, and some purely because I thought the craftsmanship was so brilliant, original and interesting. There's so much more that could be talked about here but I think my post is long enough!
