Little Richard -- Long Tall Sally (1955)

My personal favorite LR song; There are a number of fantastic covers of it by legends like Elvis Presley (as Let’s Have a Party, 1956), The Kinks (1964), Gene Vincent & The Shouts (1964), Buzz Clifford (1961), The 5.6.7.8.′s (1994), and you can hear the Beatles obviously channeling their Little Richard (“LTS” in particular) in I’m Down (1966) besides doing a proper cover version, too. Nobody, however, could best the sheer energy in Little Rich’s voice.

Rest in peace, you wild man.

From another must have compilation - this song haunted me a bit when I first heard it ... as though I heard it before - but it’s doubtful - I don’t even see a 45 available. There is a vocal version - Clifford was a founding member of Hamilton Streetcar and the song appears on that album, but it’s LP only and I could not locate a version of it online. I did find a version with lyrics (Connie Stevens seen here [@ 4:37] which I bought) but the instrumental still remains my favorite. Beautifully remastered. Unknown year for this specific track. The compilation is from 2019.
