"Pancake" by Susan over at Stereogum and some other places too
A couple of weeks back, the folks at Stereogum were nice enough to premiere "Pancake" by Susan, one of the b-sides to their recently released "Just Call It" 7", available on green and gold vinyl at our webstore. You can stream the whole 7" below and read what some folks have had to say.
Susan - "Just Call It" 7" EP by Susan
via Stereogum:
On “Pancake,” from their new Just Call It 7″, jangly L.A. garage rockers SUSAN manage to make the sourest words sound sweet. The melodious touch they apply to the song’s big finish — “Fuck you! I hate you! I don’t need you! I hope you die, I hope you die alone!” — is something to be treasured, so treasure it below.
via Amoeba LA:
SUSAN are a new L.A. band that we love, and they’ve just released the new track “Pancake” via Stereogum. The band’s sweet harmonies blend with a spiraling chord progression that sounds like it’s coming apart, which should clue you into how this is gonna go. By the end of the short and pointed “Pancake,” singer/guitarist Jessica Owens is telling you “I hope you die alone.”
via Buzzbands LA:
Los Angeles has a long lineage of female-fronted bands who dispense three-minute Sweet Tarts, and the tuneful takedowns you hear from power-pop trio Susan have the same get-up-and-Go-Go. The band — guitarist Jessica Owen, bassist Beth Borwell and drummer Kate Fern — recently released its “Just Call It” EP as a limited-edition 7-inch via San Diego’s Volar Records; it’s three songs totaling seven minutes, with enough crackle and pop to make you eager for Susan’s forthcoming cassette release on Burger Records. Can’t think of a catchier way to get dumped than when Owen sings: “I’m getting ready to call it quits / ’Cause I’m getting sick of all your sh*t.”
We've still got copies of the Going Nowhere LP by Cowabunga Babes, bassist Bobby B.'s old band. Stream the LP and purchase limited red copies.
In sports parlance — not totally inappropriate here, since LA Font’s first EP was titled “The American Leagues” — the Los Angeles quartet’s full-length debut “Diving Man” is like a long touchdown followed by a vicious spike of the football.
Thanks Buzzbands! Y'all can preorder this record here.

"Fans intimately familiar with “El Moodio” will find a crackling, rawboned tenacity in the parallel universe of “New Moodio” — not necessarily better, just different. And, if you’re a student of production, perhaps instructive."
