Despite knowing Shae for over a year, he still wasn’t sure what to think of her. He found there was something off about her, but he couldn’t place what it was. Perhaps it was because he had rarely spoken to her, even before the dead started rising. Or that everyone just seemed off to him. Either way, he still kept his distance. Although that was difficult when he was told to go scout the forest with her.
He kept his hand hovering over the knife on his belt. Given he was 16, he was allowed carry a weapon, something he had to thank Dale and Jim for. Twigs snapping behind him alerted him that Shae wasn’t far behind.
