Ev does a mental double take. Wait. That had been a serious ‘i love you’ not just a you brought me food ‘i love you’.
He’s glowing now and not just in the blushing way.

The washcloth was dunked back into the bowl, rung out, Ev trying not to spend too much focus on the the red that was left behind in the water. He was just focusing on erasing the blood that was still left on Layla. He could worry about the quantity and prevalence of it all later.
"And...you're sure... one hundred percent none of this is yours?" Even as he asks, he's looking her over to see for himself.
Alonso or Ev, talk about Layla
They look at each other, Alonso giving a bit of a nod to Ev. They would pretty much say the same thing anyway. But Ev would be the one to vocalize it, obviously.
"Layla is great. Yes she can be reckless, but that's a positive as much as it is a negative. I wouldn't want that to change for the world. Even if it would save me a few yearly heart attacks. But even with all that...." Ev could feel himself feeling sappy.
Alonso pats his back and signs. 'She's just...real cool.'

[pm] Heard through the grapevine that you might be really needing a beer. Or 12.
[pm] I uh, sort of graduated from beer.
I figured you weren't um, a dead terrorist.
starlingscall replied to your post:[pm] You're gonna kill yourself, you know that, right?
[pm] Dude. Your diet. It’s disgusting.
[pm] Yeah, yeah I know. It's not uh, too bad if you put a lot of mayo on everything.
[pm] You're gonna kill yourself, you know that, right?
[pm] What?
Not Lethal Weapon || Kirk & Ev
He sat in his car. The engine wasn't on. It was still in the parking lot of his apartment complex. He looked at the keys in his hand. It wasn't too late to just go back inside. He could just not say anything. He could just crawl into bed and stare at the ceiling until he either fell asleep or thought of something better to do. The Discovery Channel? Lobster Wars, that Deadliest Catch knockoff. The Science Channel? Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking. If worst came to worst, he could sit on his couch and watch Lethal Weapon. Just leave the DVD on and loop it and loop it. Watching the first Lethal Weapon over and over again is just about the same as watching all the sequels in order. Kirk wiped his forehead and jammed the key into the ignition and pulled out of the parking lot. Mostly, the Cream Colored Nissan Rogue had seen better days. He had a break light out. The handle to get the wide trunk open? It had broken off. The whole car was starting to make noises. Anymore, he didn't bother to dodge potholes. At least it wasn't a long ride. Too bad it wasn't a long ride. If she hadn't been right in East End too, well, he could've pulled the gas card. Said that he didn't have enough gas and at damn near 4 dollars a gallon and sort of, he had to prioritize. The relief that came from wiggling out of plans, it probably wasn't healthy. He hadn't even vacuumed his car. The crumbs from the Nature Valley bar that he'd systematically wolfed down, they were still all over the driver's side floor. In his cup holders. The wrapper was thrown in the back seat. No one had ever sat in the back seat of his car. Back there, it was mostly trash. A jacket he hadn't taken out from winter. A TV guide that had made it into his car for whatever reason. Her side of East End, he didn't know it that well. The GPS on his phone, it said that her house was near. He drove slow, his head hanging out the window, his eyes squinting. Where the hell were the numbers on half these houses? He kept stopping short because of cats wandering around in the road. Three times he went up and down the street. His ugly car rumbling. Kirk craning his neck out the window. Maybe it was a sign. Like the universe was just giving him an excuse to watch Lethal Weapon until his brain turned to pudding. Finally, he drove into the parking lot of an apartment complex. Not so different from his own. Really, really not different. Just another set of dwellings that was more assembled than built. He shut off his car. He put his keys in his pocket. He looked at himself in the rear view mirror and sighed and pulled down his Cubs hat. Even things that were supposed to be okay and fun weren't. If she turned out to be some murderer and he got killed in her apartment, well, that would be just about as bad as watching Lethal Weapon six times in a row. Mel Gibson, that racist fuck. He got out of his car and shut the door and walked up to the door of the building. All this for some beer. All this just to avoid another night of not knowing what to do with himself. Kirk found her buzzer on the list. He pressed it. He pressed it so fast that he forgot to say anything. Already, he was getting out of sorts. If he ran to his car, how long would it take? Was there a camera, with some security guard laughing at him? He pressed the button again. "Hey, uh... it's Kirk?"
