General thoughts

I really enjoy that this series makes proper use of silences and allowing scenes to properly settle. It just seems that it doesn't necessarily want to fill every waking second with dialogue or action and it's such a minuscule thing but I enjoy it immensely.

Regarding the cats, are we gonna get one cat backstory per episode? because that would be awesome T_T <3

We are more alike than I'd like

I love the parallels between p'Je and Lynx. It's interesting to see how much alike they are, even though Lynx is probably thinking the opposite, all with the cats and stuff.

Maybe the animosity stemmed from the fact that they were too similar. Lynx wanted something for himself because if he loved the cats the same amount as his mom, what love was there left for himself?

And maybe Lynx is blaming himself a little bit, thinking he was the reason for the estrangement between them. He begged his mom to keep granny Joo, and that started a series of events that ended up leading his moms attention (and love, as he thinks) away from him and towards the cats.

If he felt unloved, on the sidelines compared to cats, he came to resent them and what was supposed to bring him and his mom together actually brought them further apart.

I'm curious about the past, where the crack started.

Did Lynx begin to close off slowly and p'Je didn't notice until it was too late? When did he stopped communicating and trying to explain what bugs him?

Parent child relationship is delicate, because no matter how much the parents try, they make mistakes. And no matter how much children want to love their parents, there might be instances where they feel like not enough.

You can be as good of a person as possible, but there are still gonna be people you can hurt or disappoint, however unknowingly.

Of course, one could argue that Lynx is spoiled brat. That his mom was the epitome of a great parent and he's ungrateful.

But even seemingly minuscule things can leave a cut when they accumulate. And since the dad left them, it's always been just the two of them. They only had each other to rely on.

Maybe to Lynx it seemed like not only dad but also mom abandoned him. That suddenly he wasn't important enough for her neither, because if he was, she would give him her undivided love and attention right?

P'Je from the time with Tiger and from flashbacks as well looks like an absolute angel of a human.

And Lynx, bless him, is not the one to open up easily.

Maybe the point Lynx wants to get across here is how for cats being difficult is accepted and people still love them and seek their attention over and over again without getting annoyed, but if the same goes for him as a person, suddenly it's a problem.

Tiger says "Who would hug you?" and Lynx hears "You're not worth trying over and over again"

Also I find it ironic, that Lynx's profession is an interpreter. A job where you have to find the most fitting words, to express yourself as accurately as you can as quickly as you manage without loosing any meaning of the words.

But in personal life, Lynx is struggling with finding the right words, or words at all, to connect with people close to him.

The implications of a Touch

Despite Tigers belief that Lynx is somehow avoiding intimacy with him but allowing other people to have it, we can actually see it's not truth.

We can divide this into few catgories (hehe):

- Receiving touch

- Accepting touch

- Initiating touch

It's not about touch itself but about the implications that hide beneath the different situations.

Lynx is not exactly shying away from people touching him.

As we could see, he let the racer from first episode touch him (quite suggestively as well!) and now Pom too (with all the air of an old acquaintance) and I believe Krapor as well if I'm not mistaken.

Touching is after all still surface level enough of an interaction. But the trouble comes when it is about deeper stuff, then he becomes unsure and afraid.

I think that's why he quite doesn't know how to act around Tiger who is so openly into all of him, he's not used to people going deeper, being so so caring and genuinely trying to be there for him.

And maybe he's twice as nervous, because he is also interested back.

From Tigers POV Lynx doesn't know how to accept help yet he is okay with Pom taking care of him, so Tiger is frustrated because what is he doing wrong? Does Lynx still have to do everything on his own?

What Tiger, maybe not fails to notice, but doesn't realize fully is that Lynx actually accepts the touch from Tiger quite easily.

Though he looks positively baffled every time as to why Tiger shows him this kind of attention.

Not only accepting the kindness from Tiger, Lynx also asks for nail trim, he writes rather bold 'give me brushing' on Tigers cup (that is blatant flirting?!), he is showing his affection (maybe the only way he knows how) by asking for the exact things Tiger wants to give anyway.

He initiates touching, and the instances when he seems to do it without thinking and readily is when he's in turn taking care of Tiger (applying the ointment, checking Tigers eyes, scratching his back).

And of course when he doesn't have a hold of his own body (I love this trope so much hehe):

His facade is cracking in places where his walls are the highest.

He wants to take care of Tiger as well and he softens up and beautifully panics when Tiger calls him out on it.
