From Rep. Ted Lieu on Twitter.
Generally, right-wing trolls and Russian disinformation bots (in other guises) will claim that both major US parties are alike. If you hear real people repeating this canard then they need somebody to correct them; feel free to volunteer!
Without a doubt, there will be a 2022 version of “but her emails!” — a meaningless distraction designed to keep voters from thinking about the dangers posed by Republican control of the Courts and Congress.
Don’t be sidetracked by Republican propaganda attacks. When they attack, respond by going on a counterattack against them. Ignore their attempts to put you on the defensive. Constantly responding to idiotic GOP talking points is useless and counterproductive. Responding to stupidity only makes the responders look stupid.
Use Republicans’ own words against them. Read the 2022 Platform of the Republican Party of Texas. This is essentially what they are planning if they take control nationally.
Republicans babble a lot about “freedom”. What they really mean is their freedom to make you conform to their extremist ethno-religious-social views.
The only way to keep the GOP Vagina Police from banning abortion nationally is to vote Democratic and to make sure your friends and family vote Democratic.
The time to be bashful about politics is long gone. Reticence and apathy gave us Donald Trump and a Supreme Court that’s stuck in the 17th century. But activism and political awareness helped eject Trump from the White House in the 2020 election.
When your rights are at stake you cannot afford to be quiet about it – especially when there’s an election on the horizon.
I Will Vote
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-33) reacts on Twitter to the endorsement of Joe Biden by the journal Scientific American.
This is not just a contest between Biden and Trump or Democrats vs. Republicans.
Trump and his followers think The Enlightenment was a bad idea. They have no use for logic or the scientific method. They regard as dangerous any method of reasoning which can prove them wrong.
Scientific American understands that such thinking is a threat to the progress we’ve made over the past 300 years. That’s why they’ve endorsed Joe Biden.
It’s the first time since the magazine was founded in 1845 that they’ve endorsed a presidential candidate. A president who tries to alter a hurricane’s path with a Sharpie and recommends that Americans drink bleach to cure a virus is too great risk for the country.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-33) released his first re-election campaign vid. It was produced by his kids.
He drank a glass of water with one hand and it took him less time than it took Donald Trump at either Tulsa or West Point.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-33) held a press conference with other Congressional Democrats to deflate Trump/Republican/Fox News propaganda that the House of Representatives has done nothing except impeach Donald Trump (AKA: “The Chosen One”).
Rep. Lieu has his hand on a stack of copies of hundreds of bills passed by the House and sent to the Senate where they have languished under the leadership of Majority Leader Sen. Mitch “Moscow Mitch” McConnell (R-KY) since the start of the 116th Congress.
House Democrats have passed nearly 400 bills. Trump and Republicans are ignoring them. Legislative paralysis gripped Capitol Hill well before impeachment started.

You remember the supply problems with toilet paper and other goods last year. The Trump White House did absolutely nothing to alleviate them.
Republicans screwed things up or did nothing to solve existing problems when they were in power. Now that they are out of office, they are attacking Democrats for not cleaning up lingering GOP shit fast enough.
During the Trump administration we were constantly told that “infrastructure week” was just around the corner. All 208.7 weeks of the Trump presidency passed with little to show in terms of repairing or improving our national infrastructure. The only thing remotely close to that was the partial construction of that collapsing wall on the southern border.
President Joe Biden got the Infrastructure Bill passed and will sign it in a few days. it will make supply chain problems less likely and create jobs in the process.

Donald Trump has been leading the Republican anti-Asian hate binge since it became obvious that he was severely mishandling the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Trump’s view, nothing is ever his fault; and when something goes wrong, in his mind it has to be the fault of some group which does not include aging white billionaires.
Few Republicans have shown backbone when it comes to dealing with Trump. They have been willing to go along with his anti-Asian racism or even join in on it.
Sen. David Perdue went out of his way to mock Kamala Harris’s Sanskrit first name at a MAGA rally last October. The excuse that he really didn’t know how to pronounce her name is pure bullshit. Harris and Perdue were serving together in the US Senate at the time. He could have called her by her last name if he really wanted to.
Sen. David Perdue’s racist treatment of Sen. Kamala Harris’s name was all too familiar
Here’s a clip of Perdue warming up the crowd for Trump.
Perdue is now an ex-senator. The incumbent was beaten by Democrat Jon Ossoff by 55,232 votes.
There are certainly more than 55,232 Asian voters in Georgia. 😉
This 21st century GOP denigration of Asian-Americans isn’t a novelty. At the time of the David Perdue fallout, Rachel Maddow reminded viewers of the “Macaca” incident involving Republican Sen. George Allen who was running for re-election in 2006 – noted in the first part of the following clip.
George Allen, like David Perdue is now an ex-senator. He lost his bid for re-election and Democrats won control of the US Senate in 2006.
Serial disrespect is not exactly a way to endear a party to voters. From Republicans, Asian-Americans keep hearing “kung flu” “macaca” “China virus” and “Kamala-mala-mala“. That makes it more likely that Asian-American voters will keep telling Republicans, “You’re fired!”.

The US will have enough vaccines for everybody by the start of meteorological summer. Of course people need to get vaccinated for this to be a complete success over the virus.
President Joe Biden is surpassing expectations. The only areas where Donald Trump ever overperformed were: corruption, incompetence, sloth, bigotry, and stupidity.
Speaking of vaccines and Trump...
Trump Got Vaccinated Secretly, Because Otherwise He Might Have Helped the Country
Still, it’s unclear exactly why Trump didn’t care to announce that he had been vaccinated in January. Maybe he understood that many of his supporters were anti-vaxxers and he didn’t want to betray them. Maybe he thought it would come across like he was giving into liberal propaganda. Maybe, as is the simple explanation for most of what confounds us about Trump, he’s just a huge asshole.
Yeah, let’s go with the just plain asshole explanation – that would certainly not be out of character for Donald Trump.
