In Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK, the white fruits of Cordyline australis (cabbage palm, Torquay palm) were providing a display even from a distance. This monocotyledon is an endemic to New Zealand, with long evergreen leaves in dense clusters at the branch tips and creates a small tree with stout branches coming from a single trunk. The distinctive habit of this plant means it needs to be used with care within garden and landscape designs.

Cabbage palm - This #plant gets its common name from the tender, edible portion of the central bud, which was once commonly cut from the #tree and eaten with a taste and texture said to be similar to #cabbage.
