Topic of the day: @zendaya as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man:Homecoming!

So, here is my take. When I first heard about it I was curious. I feel like the iconic Red Hair is the only real thing that would be needed. Thankfully, it’s happening.

I think she’s gorgeous and fits the look perfectly. She has the chops, the looks, and the red hair. I don’t need much more.

Some people are arguing that it doesn’t work… I legit as a Spider-Man fanatic for over 30 years cannot understand what doesn’t work?

Is it cause she’s not white?

Let’s just discuss that for a second. Mary Jane was created to be a polar opposite of Gwen Stacy. Had the world been more progressive, she’d have been black.

I personally have always felt she should have been in the first place. Peter will always be a white kid, it is part of his character. He literally is always the poor white kid from the rough side of Queens. He’s Eminem with less cursing.

Mary Jane was a girl who was visiting her aunt who lived in the same neighborhood as Peter. She could have been Chinese and it wouldn’t have mattered.

She just needs to be assertive, impulsive, gorgeous, red haired, and be able to get saved a lot.

I think this is a great casting.
