character development: is there any significant reasoning behind your character's appearance/attitude when designing them?

I made Amaris a few years ago when I wanted to put an oc in Gotham, but I always struggle with making new faces, so I usually end up basing them around my own appearance at first until they slowly change over time while I develop their story! When I finally redesigned Amaris, and reworked her character, I decided to give her more of a story, which involved taking two limbs, but I digress.
Her appearance overtime became different, I gave her far lighter brown eyes, I usually keep her hair up in some sort of style, and I ended up giving her freckles! Everybody loves some good freckles. She’s also pale as hell cause it’s Gotham, you get sunlight every once in a blue moon.
As for her attitude! It’s just me. That’s it. That never changed, she just has my personality, stubborn to all hell, swears like a sailor, and yet horrifically empathetic, I cry over sad animal videos. With a dash of anxiety in there.
Also I ripped her limbs off for lore purposes. No spoilers. Except Steph, she can stay.
