ive been thinking a lot about the current situation going on in the US right now with Roe v Wade and abortion rights being in danger of regressing, as well as all the trans healthcare bans being issued and the thinly veiled motive behind it being church related.
this is absolutely unconstitutional and now falls into the territory of church integrating with state, which is even more concerning to me. this back and forth has been going on for literal centuries, both in and outside religious spaces, and the general consensus has been "yeah, mixing church and state together would be absolutely catastrophic".
yes this is about people in power wanting to keep that power because theyre afraid of not having it. yes this is about controlling peoples agency and choices. its absolutely about those things. i just havent seen more talk about how this fight pre dates the foundation of the US, is part of the reason the puritans fled to the Americas, and is now creeping its way back into the discussion without anything being said about it.
these people are framing themselves as crusaders for the holy land that never fucking existed and never has existed, then bitching about how the people they chose to go to war with are fighting back.
(fair warning this post was made in the wee hours of the morning and i want to expand on this, so research will be done to obliterate the idea that this isnt another fight about church and state)
