WandaVision "Living in a Sitcom" Cake
(Minor spoiler alert)
Beat egg, milk, applesauce, oil --the usual recipe, the usual substitutions. Batter seems wet, did I add too much oil and applesauce? Ah, cook it a little longer, it should work out. Add 1 extra egg to make sure it sets, and a handful of chocolate chips. Everything is better with chocolate.
Check the box of cake mix for the time and temperature, set oven, set timer, scamper off to watch WandaVision episode 4. Monica is awesome! Oh Maria . . . nooooo.
Timer goes off, pause show, check cake, still too jiggly, set timer, return to show. It's Darcy! Darcy is awesome.
Timer goes off, pause show, check cake, still too jiggly, set timer, return to show. Jimmy is awesome! I had completely forgotten how much I love Jimmy. Did I love Jimmy? Nevermind, I do now. Oh wait, timer.
Cake looks puffy now, its not browning correctly, but it getting too brown around edges, take out to cool. Go watch rest of show. Oh, Wanda. Oh, Vision. Ohhhh. Show ends.
Discuss show excitedly with housemates.
Slice cake.
Something . . . . something is wrong . . .
Did I leave something out?
This is a foolproof mix. I've done the "swap butter for oil and applesauce" dozens of times.
Pick up box to review instructions.
Review: Milk, eggs, oil . . . cake mix . . . . cake mix.

The box I am holding is heavy . . . why?
Cake mix.
It is full of cake mix.
Unlike my cake.
The box isn't still sealed?
Yes. Yes it is.
I am blown through 2 walls, the neighbors' hedge and a forcefield.
I never . . . I never . . .
I never opened the box . . .
