Annabeth has been a mage’s apprentice nearly as long as she could remember. Her teacher, Athena, is the adviser to king Zeus. When the princess claims the throne, Annabeth will advise her. Annabeth Is smart. She’s been studying magic her entire life. She’s not normally one to make careless mistakes.

Piper is a pixie of Venus. A rather important pixie of Venus, at that: She’s the daughter of the two senators of Venus themselves. That is, until some careless human traps her in the World of Mortals.

Will is essentially a glorified medic. That’s how he sees it at least. He didn’t even want a job in the royal military- He’s just here because his father was a soldier before him and he was never trained for anything else. All he wants is a normal life with his boyfriend. But It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen any time soon.

Thalia wasn’t kidnapped.

poe, you are so lucky i do not live close to you or it would be instant hand to hand combat. this one's for you (since no one even knows cal and nate yet. gosh. spoilers.) <3

They have been walking for...months, at this point. Life has just become endless and fruitless walking punctuated by small instances of rest, stringing up makeshift campsites to remind themselves that their hands are capable of things other than killing.

While on the outskirts of the California border, they stumbled across an abandoned gas station, the pumps all torn down, digital display screens cracked and numberless. Looting it, they didn't find much, at least nothing worth enough to warrant the danger of them being so vulnerable, loud and visible in broad daylight. They came out with pack of bandaids and a roll of gauze hidden behind the counter. Cal took some of the power cords connecting to the appliances in the break room, stuffed them into his bag ("just in case, Nate. What are you, the looting police?"). Daniel managed to find a foil-wrapped chocolate something, what could have once been a hershey's kiss.

Right now, they're sitting on the curb, drinking from dirty canteens and committing to memory what it feels like to sit down, surrounded by eerie silence. They are going to be on foot for a while.

Daniel unwraps his chocolate with a crisp metallic sound, the foil scraping against itself. Inspecting it, he raises an eyebrow. "Do you guys think Halloween has happened yet?"

Suddenly, Cal comes to sit next to Nate, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees. They're basically shoulder to shoulder. Swallowing, Nate looks down at his feet, studies the fray of his laces.

Cal shrugs and Nate can see it in his peripheral. "Who knows. Maybe it's today." His eyes widen dramatically as he cranes his neck over his shoulder to look back at the gas station. "Is that...written in blood?" he asks, tone tinged with dramatics as he theatrically splays his palm over his chest.

There's nothing there. Nate rolls his eyes, fighting a smile as he shakes his head, scuffing his shoes against the concrete.

"Fuck off, Cal," Daniel laughs, popping the candy in his mouth before his face twists up, surrounding them in the sound of the chocolate thudding dully against the asphalt when he spits it out.

Everyone is laughing and the grin Cal aims back is blinding. Nate feels sick at the sight of it.

"Beware the Echoes, or else face certain death," Cal intones, drawing out the vowels like some b-rated ghost, holding his arms out in front of him in a mimicry of a television zombie.

Nate feels his face go sour, then, a scowl pulling down at his mouth. He keeps staring at his shoes until Cal tells them it is time to go.
