I’m really excited to be taking John Stevens’ online italic class w @calligraphile 😃 This is my homework for the first week. Working on subtle pen manipulations, and looking for continuity/harmony of forms within a body of written text. There are some definite flubs in here, and my slant consistency and spacing is pretty atrocious in spots. I think I may start working with some slant line guides in addition to just a baseline to try to reinforce some better habits.

I did this sheet with a Mitchell 1 and some brown pelikan 4001 ink that’s probably from the 80s. It had dried up in the bottle, so I added a little water back in just to see what it would do... and it’s got a lovely almost red tone 🤷‍♀️
