I think a lot about how ... pretty? ... Instagram is. Like, we all love to show off our final creations, but we donāt share the hard work behind it sometimes, because thatās messy and doesnāt look as good and shows our mistakes, and that makes us feel vulnerable, and nobody likes looking like theyāre wrong in front of uh ... a lot of people, thereās a LOT of you guys ššš ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā So in that vein hereās my first page of notes from class with @gyounghee yesterday, learning the details of insular half-uncial, a script Iāve only dabbled in before. I make a lot of mistakes. I take a LOT of notes. None of it comes effortlessly and all of it is thanks to the amazing teachers who share their skills with us. ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā I actually feel a bit weird posting it for all the reasons above ... but I still think itās good to show more of where we start and not so much only the pretty stuff. And maybe a bit of how much work behind the scenes every calligrapher on Instagram does. š Gonna press post now, and in a few months (or years) when Iāve figured this script out, Iāll be able to share some prettier stuff! . #lovemyjob #melbourneart #calligraphyteacher #learncalligraphy #duckpaddling #showyourwork #studyasmuchasyoupractice https://www.instagram.com/p/ByO_L3SlL_o/?igshid=1beev8liiizg1
