wada sez: Alongside The End of the Beginning..., the regular weekly two-strip drops continued—so enjoy a break from Megatron Origin! In September 2008, Seibertron suffered a major server crash, and the site had to be reinstated from a backup dated to June. Thus, their discussion threads for over seventy Mosaic strips (including the rest of The End of the Beginning...) were completely lost. Kudemus was prompted to submit to the Mosaic project by positive reception to their previous fancomic, “SCREAM!”, which was loosely inspired by an iconic beat from G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue #4. See below the break for lineart for both strips!

wada sez: A strip seemingly inspired by the Marvel UK story “Headhunt”, which reconciles the Headmasters miniseries (in which Hot Rod was a Targetmaster) with The Transformers: The Movie (retconned into Marvel UK continuity by Simon Furman) by showing Firebolt be killed in flashback. In the panel in question, Hot Rod is shown mourning Firebolt in a yellow spotlight, likely inspiring the framing here! And of course, Firebolt has the human skin tone seen in the comics, rather than the alien green seen in the cartoon. The training pistol is drawn with an orange tip, a goof about toy safety regulations—it coincidentally resembles the Legends Class Megatron toy released in the Reveal the Shield line.

wada sez: A simple introdump-esque vignette that tries to give one-line characterisation to the Autobot Headmasters, set at the end of The Rebirth, Part 2. Artist Ed Pirrie clarifies that Arcee is stepping on Scourge, and holding the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. Javier Reyes definitely drew Highbrow; I can’t confirm the attributions of the other artists to the other panels, but based on the order they’re listed on deviantART, Watson did Hardhead, Booth did Brainstorm, and Donaldson did Chromedome. See below for the inks for Highbrow and Scorponok.

wada sez: Hubcap, whose original toy shared engineering with Bumblebee's, uses Bumblebee's Cybertronian mode from the Sunbow cartoon. The twist here is that Hound is using his hologram projector to pose as Swindle, so as to retrieve the experimental weapons. It’s the first time, I believe, that we’ve seen him use his holographic power this way; in canon, he’s always projecting something external! Of course, in-canon, Hound and Swindle have shared a body-type in the Alternators toyline, drawing inspiration from their similar Jeep alt-modes. The strip is titled after, uhh, presumably Donald Trump’s ghostwritten self-help book.
