Introducing: Mabel

Given that her parents are singer Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack/Sugababes/All Saints producer Cameron McVey, it’s perhaps not surprising that London-based singer Mabel has been blessed with keen pop chops.

Debut single Know Me Better, pitching indelible pop melodies and lyrics about “losing layers of pretension and control, and letting your guard down” against resourceful arrangements from Leeds producer Josh Crocker, has slowly been building momentum on UK radio in recent months and, last week, clinched Annie Mac’s ‘track of the week’ honour. The buzz around Mabel suggests there’s lots more good stuff to come in the next few months and Know Me Better certainly doesn’t feel like a fluke.
