Lamora lamentations

Every time I read The Lies of Locke Lamora or even think about Camorr I am overwhelmed with the need to introduce a debauched Venetian City State built one the eldritch and uncanny ruins of an ancient and alien civilization into the DnD campaign that I'm not even running. A city full of commerce and crime, alchemy and fine arts: some of which are delectable and some of which are deadly (all are some mixture of the two).

I want to watch my party (which, again, I don't even have) try to swindle the nobility and I desparately want to attempt to run a long con against them

It's terrible. I need a source book. And the worst part is...?

...the impulse flairs right back up again the next time I read a Dragaera novel by Steven Brust or a Chalion novel by Lois Bjuold (the things she does with deities!)

...is there such a thing as too much inspiration?
