I had a random thought the other day while watching Care Bears 2 with my k
Essentially, I retconned Dark Heart to stay his magical monster self, but still striving to be good. It just makes the dynamic so much funnier. Obviously, I know Care Bears was meant for toddlers, but hey, I can still make tweaks.
Final around! It may have appeared bleak when we started, but Soren's the master tactician. He's helped win two wars. It was his idea to hire Volke. He's got this! (with our help) We are going to get Soren the win. He's going to be the camp champ!

What if Dark Heart remained his magical monster self even after falling in love with Christy? What if he reformed, but still struggles with his dark side?
So I decided to draw a silly comic where Christy is the supervising camp counselor and Dark Heart helps her (with shenanigans ensuing.)
And then I drew Dark Heart protecting Christy from the Camp Champ, because it seems on brand for him to be a bit possessive.
That’s what I call a breakfast sandwich on an english muffin. Use this as inspiration and substitute whatever you want. I made a double batch before camp and had half for breakfast on the way there, then the other frozen half we heated on the campfire on our way out of camp. You don’t need a real recipe but may find my method a helpful starting point.
Ingredients:
english muffins
breakfast meat of your choice but either purchase pre-cooked or cook ahead before assembling - sausage patty, bacon, or pork roll would be excellent. I used pork roll because Philadelphia.
sliced cheese
one egg per sandwich
literally anything else your dear heart desires, be true to yourself
To Prep Before Camp:
Cook your meat if needed. To make the eggs, use the largest muffin tin you have, or large ramekins. Some websites recommend a “jumbo” 6-muffin tin, 7 oz ramekins, or a whoopie pie/muffin top specialty pan to get just the right sandwich size and shape. I used a 12 muffin tin and sliced the egg muffins in half and it worked just fine for me. Grease and crack 1 egg into each. I broke the yolks with a fork and seasoned with salt and pepper, then baked in my convection oven for about 12 minutes. Now assemble your sammies - I did english muffin bottom, breakfast meat, cheese, egg, top but think freely. To store, I quickly wrapped the ones that were going in the toaster the next morning in plastic wrap (and I hope it’s obvious I unwrapped the plastic before heating). The camp sammies were wrapped individually in aluminum foil and tossed in the freezer.
When you’re ready to eat:
Toss the aluminum foil wrapped breakfast delights right into the morning fire or leftover coals from last night as you make your coffee and pack up camp. I turned them once to make sure both sides of the bread got toasted. Next time I may butter the outsides of the english muffin to see if they’ll crisp up a bit more (can’t hurt right?)
Camp Champs Review:
I keep threatening to make these for home during the week so this was kind of a test. If I had good bagels I would absolutely substitute those, add an avocado when they’re in season, maybe a sliced tomato, the possibilities are endless. Slicing the egg I made in my muffin pan worked well, but I want the best and if I was making these all the time it may be worth considering the specialty muffin top pan to get the perfect egg-to-sandwich ratio. For as often as I forget to eat before we leave in my pre-woods excitement, and how awful I sometimes feel packing up the next day, this is really an easy filling meal. I love to cook but an elaborate breakfast is just a pain in the ass. You could switch things up to make lunch or dinner too! This is going in the regular rotation.
