so
when Pal tied his whole soul to his own skeleton
that was derived from Seventh magic…
the skeletons at Canaan might have been an inspiration too, he might have known he could turn himself into “what I'll term the hideous corpse”—but the art of attaching a shred of spirit to a corpse to keep it fresh or animated is thee school of magic practiced in the Seventh
he even draws the parallel in that same paragraph, when they figure out the skeleton servitors:
The beguiling corpse is a remnant of spirit attached to a perfect and incorruptible body—that's the idea, anyway—whereas what I'll term the hideous corpse is a fully intact spirit attached permanently to a rotting body.
I know it's obvious, it's just something I hadn't fully contemplated—how much did Palamedes learn about Seventh necromancy, talking to Dulcie and knowing her corpse would likely be exhibited this way? what did Camilla think when they came up with the plan?
listen. i know that camilla and palamedes are dead. i know their souls fused together to make paul and they no longer exist in any individual state. HOWEVER! in my mind they’re sucking and fucking in the river and dulcie is there.
What a beautiful cruel perfect idea Dulcinea had, wanting her face to be sculpted postmortem to match Camilla's drawing of her. Even if they made it to her funeral, those zealots of truth would never know what she looked like. She never wanted them to. This is the truth, would say her corpse: who I was to you is more real than the configuration of cartilage and bone. Who I am is the person you saw in me.
idk if campaldulcie is a rareship but it's real to me. firstly, that's his emotional support cavalier and he needs to bring her along to talk to his beautiful crush for emotional support. second i think dulcinea septimus would be charmed and delighted by opportunities for bisexuality, and when cytherea-as-dulcie was really into gideon's muscles everyone was like "ah yes. it is perfectly in character for dulcinea septimus to enjoy buff women as well as weedy men." thirdly, they could bully him together in a loving and affectionate manner. fourth in nona the ninth cam and pal were five minutes away from inviting pyrrha dve to be their third at all times. so there's that.
A classic! 10/10 no notes. Wouldn't personally consider it a rare ship, but certainly a relatively small fry of a ship when measured against the fandom juggernauts! Here's to more campaldulcie!

Pair skaters Palamedes and Camilla, and skater-enthusiast and costume designer Dulcinea. Is this anything.
