Hello! I'm making your cranberry surprise recipe and have an important question, is the crust supposed to come together like a graham cracker crust? I'm not sure how it does that without any butter or anything
The way I do it, no, it's not really supposed to adhere together like a graham cracker crust. Depending on how thick the crust/crumb layer is, in theory the creamy goo should hold it together without any need for butter, if you pack the crumbs in firmly enough.
IN PRACTICE, yeah, you're probably going to have sugary crumbs left in the bottom of the dish when you serve the pie, but frankly, I'm cool with that. Just grab a spoon and sprinkle them over your slice - waste not, want not!
I have tried using melted butter to stick it together, but frozen melted butter is HARD to cut through when it's time to serve, and it didn't seem worth the effort.
HOWEVER!
If you go through the notes on the this post (I KNOW), several other people have run up against this same problem and tried various solutions. I believe someone added a tablespoon or two of molasses to the crumbs and found that tasted pretty good and held things together nicely, or at least that's what I'm remembering off the top of my head.
Heck, just google "ginger snap crust recipe" and see if anything strikes your fancy. Whatever works for you!
Lần gần nhất làm bánh là làm bánh mì hokkaido nhân nam việt quất này. Làm bao nhiêu bánh thì hokkaido vẫn là ngon nhất, mềm ẩm dai ko ngấy. Thêm nam việt quất chua ngọt nữa đúng là tuyệt phẩm. Hôm đó ăn bánh mì thay cơm luôn.
I just so love where I live in this city. Close to the city, close to parks, close to good food and bars and the theatre and just a bunch of things I like.
Close to a primary school and high school and I would like to one day be the parent whose kid/s want to invite friends over after school because it's so close and there will always be snacks available. Realistically an apartment isn't the place for that long-term but I'd love to stay in this area.
