Project Dragon / Everhaven

I heard about Project Dragon aka Everhaven on Twitter/X through game artist Nicholas Kole's social media posts. It looked like a very interesting game; choosing from a variety of fictional races besides humans, taming animal mounts, building our own land and exploring the world. I was surprised by how close it was to being announced before Forte canceled the game weeks before release.

I want to see it brought back and finished! #BringBackProjectDragon! Spread the word!

Remember Core Design's canceled Tomb Raider Anniversary game? I've been thinking about it lately, and how among all the new features it would've come with, the most interesting one to me is that it would've included a co-op feature with a brand new character: Lara's cousin Melissa Carter (or Melissa Croft, if you prefer).

The only information we have on Melissa is found in the 20 Years of Tomb Raider book in the cancelled games section, which was kind enough to give us some more personal details on her, such as her birthday also being on Valentine's Day, but in 1972 (same year as Kurtis, actually), her being Lara's maternal cousin, and that she wasn't born into wealth like Lara was. And of course, there's a small handful of images and screenshots of her in-game model and concept art so that we could get an idea of what she's supposed to look like, which is neat (even though this one looks unfinished 😂).

But damn, I think it would've been kind of cool if this game could have been finished, and we would've been able to properly meet Melissa! Like, this was an expansion of the lore behind Lara's original family backstory! Who would have voiced her? How would she and Lara have gotten along? Imagine another version of Classic Tomb Raider where Melissa could have joined her older cousin on her adventures! Yes, I know the main appeal of Classic Tomb Raider is solo adventuring, but still, it's fun to imagine 🤔

Every now and then I go gee I wish they'd make another LET IT DIE game and then I fucking remember that OH YEAH-

-this fucking thing that came out, I played the beta and everything!

It was one of the fucking hundreds of battle royal "live services" games between 2022-2023 that came out and were fucking killed months after release because they weren't instantly successes

this game reeks of the directors really didn't want to make this but sony leaned on them hard stink

Its such a bizarre decision to do this with the series, LET IT DIE has this awesome punk heavy metal black humor style to it:

but then for DEATHVERSE they (Sony) wanted the L.I.D team to make a battle royal to compete with Fortnight(duh) so instead of the awesome dark flavor, they made it look like some kinda steam punk Rocketeer future world????

Look and how bright and clean and friendly this looks, would you have believed this was supposed to be set in the same game series if I ain't told you at the start?

But the biggest failure of the whole thing is the absolutely baffling decision to replace the beloved mascot of the series, Uncle Death, whom everyone fucking loves-

.... with this floating ball that speaks in a text-to-speech robot voice:

Its not even about not being able to get the Japanese/English VAs back, its like the creators were too ashamed to have Uncle Death in this shit show

did I mention I played the beta? I played that and this while it was briefly out and it controlled like SHIT. LID had tight snappy controls and this played like I was trying to steer a fucking cruise ship

I played this thing, I gave it money, because I wanted it to succeed so I could get a real LID sequel

After half a year they said fuck it because no one was playing, claimed they were taking it down to "rework it" and then killed it. Now they've announced that they're building a new game from the ground up:

this is the only concept art they've shown, still too bright for my taste but it is just an early concept.

Honestly if it has my silly skeleton man back I'll be happy with whatever

Resident Evil GBC (Unreleased, 2000)

Intended for an Autumn 1999 release, it was repeatedly delayed due to programming issues, and ultimately cancelled in March 2000 in favour of M4, Ltd.'s alternate proposal for a new game made from the ground-up for the console, which became Resident Evil: Gaiden. In February 2012, thanks to a fundrising organized by Assembler forum, two different beta builds of Resident Evil GBC were released to the community. Every room, almost all the items and the cutscenes from the Psx version are present in this porting, but, apart from the zombies, every other enemy is either absent or still not animated. We can only use the handgun, the knife and the shotgun. By changing your location with the emulator it’s possible to get to the eliport, but there is neither a final boss or an ending sequence. In the second build we can play only with Chris and inventory chests don’t work anymore , but this beta seems to be more polished overall.
