The writers allowing Iris’ career to come full circle. She was a journalist and had traumatic events that happened to her. Her first fiancée died, found her best friend was The Flash, almost murdered by Savitar, wedding crashed by Nazis, then Olicity being rude AF and interrupting their nuptials. She realizes that she misses her career and becomes a journalist again by the end of the show.

Harry saying Ralph was useless is the writers way of letting us know that Ralph is a terrible character... most likely a result of Kreisberg’s presence.
