Pumps for men, which are like normal men's dress shoes with very low heels, maybe 1-2 inches at the max. Typically worn with tuxedos over here, but could come in a more casual style for less formal stuff like business meetings. Though I won't deny that the image of Kamski walking into an investor's meeting with fuck-me-heels would be an *amazing* power move.

◎ - What's an irrational belief that you hold? What about an irrational fear as well?

Elijah takes an uncomfortably long time to answer. He doesn’t like talking about this kind of thing.

“I have this goddamn axiom,” he says bluntly, “that no one actually cares about anyone else.”

“You can show me all the evidence in the world, but there’s a part of me that will never accept that there are any non-selfish motivations. Anyone who does anything to help you is looking to get something out of it, or they happen to get high off helping people for some reason. And I know that I’m wrong. You can show me a hundred fucking studies that say humans are altruistic–”

He cuts himself off, recognizing that he’s getting loud– letting himself get heated.

“–but it’s bullshit,” he says, more softly. “I guess that plays into an irrational fear. Fear of betrayal, perhaps. Fear of pain. There isn’t a person alive who wouldn’t stab me in the back in an instant if it would get them what they wanted.”

He’s not angry any more now, just serious.

“No one will, though, because I ensure those incentives never line up. Crossing me will never get anyone what they want. Even if it were otherwise useful to them, I’m the richest man on earth and the CEO of the biggest company in the US. Anyone important enough to actually do me any real financial or social damage– which is fewer and fewer people every year, with CyberLife’s profit margins being what they are– knows it would be suicide to act against my interests.”

He gives a half-smirk at this, as if he’s trying to play it off as a joke, but it’s more truth than fiction.

I am so here for the height discourse. My additions: Kamski is 5'8" but wears risers in his shoes/pumps to look 5'10". Gavin is very sensitive about his height but too proud/too big of a wimp for heels. Chloe is 5'7" and *forbidden* to wear heels around Eli.

3: If a genie gave you three wishes, what would you wish for? (You may NOT wish for more wishes.)

I almost forgot these are directed at me and not Kamski! I’ve actually never thought about this before.

One, I want admin powers for the universe. Maybe this is cheating but there are no rules against asking to be omnipotent.

(Imagine if you were looking at the earth as if it were a simulation, with the ability to change anything from minute details of people’s lives, your own life, appearance, people’s thoughts/behavior, whatever, change the color of one specific leaf on a tree if you want to. But you can also change macro things that affect everyone, or even the entire universe, at once. You don’t have to use the abilities all the time - when you don’t interfere with anything, everything runs by itself as usual. That’s what I mean.)

This is also cool because I don’t have to wish for infinite money or immortality, or wish to be a cis dude, I can give myself those things too. I can also stop global warming, that’d be helpful.

Once you do that, there’s really no need to wish for anything else because I can make literally anything happen myself, but since I should probably say something for the other two:

I want every child who is being abused in any way to be treated better. I’d like to think this means they get to stay with their parent(s) and their parent(s) magically become better people, and if the abuser is someone other than their caregiver that person also just stops being a bad person.

Lastly, I would like some french toast that’s cooked through but not burnt on the outside, because I’m not great at that, even though I know it should work if you use low heat.

If one person from your past were to reappear in your life, who would you want it to be and why?

He hesitates for a moment.

“I’m not sure whether you intended that I choose a person who is still alive,” he says quietly. “But if I’m allowed to choose someone who passed away, know that I would choose my paternal grandmother, without question. She died less than a year after Chloe passed the Turing test, and I’m thankful that at the least she was able to see that. One could argue she was the only good adult that little Elijah had to rely on.”

Elijah gives a crooked smile, but it doesn’t meet his eyes. He’s trying to play it off as a joke, but he means it too much for that. 

When he drops the act, he looks cold and strangely sincere.

“I think I’d just like to thank her one more time. Let her know how much of a difference she made. I don’t know if she ever knew.”
