@TVARCHIVE TV APPRECIATION WEEK ↳ day 5: favourite seasons of tv (insp)
I hope they change this boring ass interior for the next Doctor.
It's so bland man...
Like, I get they were going for a Classic Who look, but that look worked back then because it wasn't a big fuck off set, this shit just feels so empty.
Reminds me of those brands that suck all of the personality out of their logos and turn them into some boring corporate crap.
Even if they did change the interior design it'll still never top this bad boy:
Remember how much people hated Danny Pink in 2014?
Poor Danny...personally, I liked that he called the Doctor out on his bs.
Loads of people are either on the other side of the plot against the Doctor or are a part of their heroic endeavor. Danny was disliked by the Doctor for being one thing: a soldier (for being Clara's love interest too I suppose but we'll ignore that subplot for now). Danny was understandably adamant to stand his ground against such a spiteful reception.
Twelve called him stupid, degraded his profession as a teacher...honestly, as much as I love Twelve in the long-run his treatment of Danny was a tell of his lesser instincts.
All the more reason it resonates so much with me now that so many people were anti-Danny. He was so perfectly human; what was so unlikable about him? He wasn't a white knight or a smooth talker. He was a man fighting to keep order in his life and the lives of others despite the trauma he endured (notably having his past as a soldier be prodded by The Doctor and Clara by extension). I love that he cared for the well-being of others in response to his past. Sometimes that's all someone can do after being thrust into horror.
My only lament about his character is that he died and it feels like he fell victim to the tides of the plot. I miss Danny Pink and I think he highlighted an unspoken antithesis to the Doctor's question of Series 8 "am I a good man?" Well...to be honest, Doctor...😬 *looks around nervously as he awaits an answer aboard the Tardis*
Humility did Twelve a WORLD of good. I'll leave it at that 😅
*kisses Danny Pink on the back of the hand tenderly* You are dearly missed, Danny.
P.S. - You will have your five minutes. 🥹

back at it again, ,, thinking only about twelve
[ID: screenshot of the 12th doctor taken from doctor who (2005) series 9 episode “heaven sent.” most of this image is a pale yellow marbled expanse of what looks like glowing rock. the light it emits is causing some flare, the word “HOME” is written in all capital letters at the top, centered. slightly to the left of the H is the 12th doctor, standing faced away from the camera. it is hard to make out the details, but their hair is gray and it looks like they are wearing black pants and shoes and a red velvet coat. on the image’s right, a complex-looking clockwork machine with brass gears surrounded by dark brown or black framework. /end ID]
