Capillary action through fabricated microstructures allows water to move easily while still exposed to the surroundings. This is awesome stuff, and because I have a one-track mind, I want to see if I can make fluid transistors out of it.
The only major limitation I can see is that you can't really do pressure-driven flows. But those suck in microfluidics anyway.
