Art like music, books, film, theater must have been heavily censored in the Capitol, right? There's no way a fascist dictator like Snow would ever grant Capitol citizens the ability to make art freely. Not when it can be used against him.

No wonder they were obsessed with the Games, it's the only entertainment they're allowed to have. (Even though it's also doctored and manipulated). Its the only media safe to consume without fear of retaliation.

I suppose that's why they wore such ridiculous clothes and altered their bodies. Fashion is seemingly the only way they're allowed to express themselves.

Except not really because Cinna and Portia were still killed for styling Katniss and Peeta.

Slightly naive Capitol citizen thinking it could be fun to do a little research into life expectancy, maybe with the idea of proving how superior Capitol Citizens are to the Districts or which District is the best to live in, only to start doing said research stumbling across the suspicious high mortality rates of the families of the Victors.

Now they’ve got three choices: pretend they didn’t do any of that and go back to the distractions, grow up really quickly, or die.

Has anyone else ever gotten like fae vibes from the Capitol and the Capitol citizens?

Honestly, that's the first thing to hit me when I was rereading Katniss' first description of Effie, who is described as alien to Katniss with her bright colors and the constant reminders of manners.

Then add in the Capitol and how you better follow their rules or risk facing their ire. Yet everything has to be beautiful and entertaining to them. Also, the cruelty they can display with the Humger Games, yet in their minds still believe it to be a mercy or a well deserved punishment.

I'm just rambling, but I can see it if we change the world setting.

A question you wish had been answered in the book- I dont really have a question, but I suppose I am curious to how many capitol people were actually against the hunger games?

Something you hate about the series- The capitol citizens

Except for of course Effie, Cinna and Plutarch

I know that they didn't know any better and that each generation grew up with the games as just a tv show, so they didn't realise it was wrong. But it is still sickening how they supported it, even with kids as young as 12 no concern appears to be given. They treated the games in the same way as we treat our own reality tv shows. The part of the film that made me realise this is when Haymitch was observing kids with souvenir weapons, and it made me think that these kids are obviously not going to know any better due to their society and hence their parents, and therefore this mind set would continue throughout the generations. So I guess they cannot be blamed, but I do hate the fact that this is how they had all been brainwashed/ forced to believe. Which I feel relates to the way our society is now, except onto the topic of promiscuity.   

However on another note, as every citizen was expected to watch the games as well, I bet there was so many that secretly thought it was wrong and wanted to rebel, as Cinna and other characters proved.

Hi everyone! So I'm in an English class this semester called "Civic Survival and the Hunger Games" and one of the assignments is creating a group blog that has the option of being a creative writing blog (with an argument behind it) in the perspectives of people in the world of The Hunger Games. My group chose people that could live in the Capitol during the time of the third book, Mockingjay, aka the rebellion of District 13. The perspectives range from Capitol citizens, Capitol government members, and even an Avox. So if there are any Hunger Games fans out there, which I assume there are, I'd love if you'd take some time to read a couple of our blog entries  And feel free to comment!
