Spoonies/Disabled Trekkies of the fandom- Let's talk Pike

As someone with a degenerative joint/bone disorder that will eventually change (not end!) my quality of life as I know it; let's talk Pike.

I know there is the fact they're trying to work with/grapple with the 1960s version of disability where pretending to be on a magic fakey life that you are fully aware is not real is better then living with a unique or difficult diagnosis. I also think there's something to be said of giving Pike clay feet by being an abled bodied man who suddenly is facing that future.

He even has a member of his staff who doesn't view his 'disability' as one since the Aenar just do not have sight as a aspect of his subspecies.

BUT- especially since in Lower Decks (canon? not canon?) palliative care is a thing and in TNG "Ethics" it's considered horrible to even consider suicide or that he could have a less that fulfilling life. In DS9's "Melora", we have a wheelchair-bound character who gets upset when it's suggested she wants to be "fixed" by Bashir. (which that admittedly are in Starfleet's future but still!)

Do you think they're going to retcon it or as I'm worried, Una's statement of making your own truth is playing into that Telos timeline.

Has anyone checked to make sure Pike’s motorized wheel chair can do more than just two beeps?
