2002's FIREFLY - A POSSIBLE REBOOT AS AN ANIMATED SERIES? - MARCH 21, 2026 - YOU TUBE VIDEO: SYFY: Firefly Reboot: Cult Classic Returning as Animation Series

From March 19, 2026.

Nathan Fillion revealed ‘Firefly’ will return in the form of a TV animated series, more than 20 years after the cult classic western-space adventure’s final flight on the big screen in ‘Serenity.’

The actor behind Captain Malcolm Reynolds explained “quantifiable analytics” are all that stand in the way of fans seeing their next chapter.

Fillion shared the news alongside costars Gina Torres (Zoë Washburne), Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra), Alan Tudyk (Hoban Washburne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye), Sean Maher (Simon Tan), Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb), and Summer Glau (River Tam).
