Last night I read the Life of Captain Marvel by Margaret Stohl, which is the final book in her run, and I have to say that this was my favourite of the entire run. In fact, I'd be inclined to say that this might be my favourite Captain Marvel story so far.
This was in part a very big retcon to Carol's past by revealing some things about her mother, and changing her up quite a bit. But this was also an interesting exploration into her past when she was a child and exploring her family dynamic.
Would definitely recommend checking this out. This is a mix of a superhero story as well as being a very grounded story as well with some of the things that happen in this.
On the whole, this has been an interesting run that was having to deal with the fallout of Civil War II (which I haven't read, admittedly), but it was a good one and it feels like Stohl has managed to get her back to the hero she is (I have heard about how Civil War II butchered her character).
Next up will be the first volume of the Kelly Thompson run which I am looking forward to as I have enjoyed everything that I have read by Kelly Thompson, so looking forward to seeing how she works with Carol / Car-Ell
