Jaydick sheltering from the rain underneath Jason's jacket
Rainy nights in Gotham sucked. They made Dick want to curl up in his bed and forget about the world for a few hours while the rain washed away all the sins that Gotham carried.
Unfortunately, rainy days still required patrolling, and Dick was working a case that required him to sit on top of a building watching henchmen go in and out of a warehouse, trying to establish some kind of schedule. So Dick sat, rain pattering on his head, wetting his hair, and sliding between his uniform and his skin, leaving him well and truly soaked.
Dick heard bootsteps behind him and looked to see Jason approaching, helmet on. He settled down next to Dick and took his jacket off, slinging it over their heads. Under the shelter of Jason's jacket Dick could hear the mechanized sound of his breathing. Their shoulders were pressed together and Dick could feel the heat radiating from Jason's body.
"You don't have to do that," Dick whispered.
"You look pretty miserable out here," Jason said. "I feel bad just letting you sit here."
"I'm working a case," Dick gestured to the warehouse with his binoculars.
"I've been watching the same warehouse and no one's gone in or out for hours tonight," Jason said. "Rain's keeping them away. Come back to my place. I'll make hot chocolate and order Thai food, then we can compare notes."
Of course they were working the same case. It happened pretty often in their line of work. Crime was like a spiderweb, it didn't matter what part of the web you started on, it often led to the same center eventually.
Dick thought about it, listening to the tap tap tap of rain on Jason's jacket above them. It was rare that Jason offered to work with anyone on a case, even rarer that he invited someone back to his apartment. They'd been dating for a few months and Dick was still getting used to being welcomed into Jason's space.
"Okay," Dick said. "But only if you're buying."
"Of course, Pretty Bird. I'll also give you some dry clothes to wear and you can spend the night so you don't have to come back out in the rain."
"So welcoming," Dick said with a grin. "We going to share the bed?"
"Duh," Jason responded as he got up, shaking the water off his jacket.
Dick grinned as he got up and followed Jason into the night.

And we’re off! Sorry it took most of the day. I groomed my dog, which I forgot tends to take several hours. Then I sat down to write and she demanded a walk. I hope you enjoy, Cherry!

“And then I kicked the guy through the window of the store and right in front of the police, it was super cool!” Jason had barely taken a breath through the story he told Dick of the time he handled a case basically by himself on patrol a few nights before.
Dick didn’t want to be in the cave, that much was clear from how much he bristled every time Bruce looked his way or cleared his throat. Jason didn’t care though, this was Dick Grayson of the Flying Graysons, the first Robin. All it had taken was one look at Dick in his costume, v dropping low down his chest, for Jason to know that it was love at first sight.
The only problem was that no matter how hard Jason tried, he couldn’t get Dick to give him the time of day. All Dick did was yell at Bruce. Jason wanted Dick to smile, he wanted Dick to look his way for one second. He knew Dick was livid that Jason had replaced him, but Jason was more than that.
“The other day, I bench pressed 100 pounds,” Jason said as he dropped down into a split. “B said it was a new personal record, right B?”
“Jason don’t you have homework you should be doing?” Dick asked.
“I already finished it,” Jason said. “I’m ahead actually. I do a lot of my homework in study hall, then the rest when I get home. It gives me more time for training.”
“A shower then?” Dick asked.
Jason knew when he was being dismissed. He sighed and walked to the locker room, doing his best not to let his shoulders fall until the door was shut behind him.
-
“Bruce, when I said I could help you with this case, I didn’t mean watching over Robin for you.”
“I can look after myself,” Jason piped up, trying to quell the argument so patrol with Dick wouldn’t be as tense. “I lived on my own for months after my mom died, and then again when my first foster family was bad.”
The look Dick gave him wasn’t admiration like Jason wanted, but pity. Jason hated when people pitied him.
“Come on, Dick! It’ll be fun! I can show you my favorite chili dog spot. I did some research and it’s on our route for tonight. Lighten up.”
Dick sighed and turned back to Bruce. “You owe me for this, B. Come on Little Wing, let’s go.”
Jason put on his helmet and slotted behind Dick on his motorcycle, arms wrapped around Dick’s waist, warmth travelling through him in every spot where he and Dick were touching. He closed his eyes on the ride out of the cave and pretended that he could have this moment over and over again. He would. He escaped Crime Alley, he was doing better in school than anyone thought he would, and he was Robin, the Robin.
Dick had them run through a series of warm-ups where they ran from rooftop to rooftop. Jason managed to keep up with Dick the entire time. When they got their first call, Jason helped Dick take down a few thugs trying to rob a convenience store and calmed down the lady that was crying behind the counter.
“That was really sweet of you, Little Wing,” Dick said as they left the store, climbing up to another rooftop.
“She was upset,” Jason said with a shrug, even though his cheeks were warm and pink. He knew his green mask would only make his blush even more furious. “It was the right thing to do.”
“It was,” Dick agreed.
They handled a few more incidents together, and each time, Dick warmed up to him more and more. Jason tried less to impress him and more to do the right thing, trying to be the best Robin he could be. Each time Dick gave him a gentle shove and told him “good job” Jason felt like he was lighting up from the inside.
“So about that chili dog place you were telling me about,” Dick said. “Is there any chance they’re open right now?”
“Absolutely!” Jason said.
“Lead the way then.”
A few chili dogs later, Dick leaned back on a rooftop, legs kicking over the edge. “You were right about those chili dogs, Little Wing, I’m going to have to stop by there every time I’m in Gotham now. I don’t know how he did it but they were,” Dick did a chef’s kiss gesture. “Hot diggity delicious.”
Jason laughed. “Hot diggity delicious?”
Dick shrugged but he had a lopsided grin on his face. “Not every bit of wordplay lands, I guess.” He stood up and stretched his arms above his head. Jason’s eyes didn’t know where to look. “I think it’s about time we dropped you off.”
The ride back to the manor felt far too short, and if Jason held onto Dick longer than he should have after they pulled into the cave, Dick didn’t say anything.
Jason took off his helmet and lingered in front of Dick. “Thanks for tonight,” he said. “I know you didn’t want to go on patrol with me but I think it was a lot of fun. We should do it again!”
Dick looked at him for a long moment. “We should,” he said. “I had fun. I’m sorry I made it seem like I didn’t want to spend time with you. You know how B and I are.” He reached behind his head. “Anyways. You have a good night, Jason.”
Jason stepped forwards and pulled Dick into a hug before Dick could leave. “Thank you,” Jason said again.
Dick pulled back. “You’re welcome, Little Wing. Maybe I’ll come around later this week and we can spar. How does that sound?”
Jason lit up. “That sounds awesome!” He said. “I bet I can pin you.”
“I’m sure you can,” Dick said as he leaned in and pecked Jason’s cheek goodnight. “Night Jason.”
He put on his helmet and took off out of the cave, and Jason stood there with red cheeks and a grin on his face until Alfred called to ask him when he was planning on coming upstairs.

Dickphrodite is a tease of something that will come later.

Jason still couldn’t get used to the fact that the man he was in love with was Aphrodite, as in the Aphrodite, goddess of love, star of greek myths, and renaissance paintings. The history of how Aphrodite had ended up in a human form going by the name of “Dick” was extremely complicated. Dick had explained it to him a few different times and the simplest explanation was this: As the times changed, so did the gods.
He’d met Dick’s ex boyfriends and ex girlfriends, many of whom were also divine, and he’d also met many of Dick’s fans and been left wondering why Dick had chosen him. Dick could literally have anyone he wanted, but something had drawn him to Jason. Born and raised in Crime Alley, lucky to have gone to college, Jason.
Dick shifted and groaned, turning over to look at Jason. His hair was mussed and hanging over one sapphire blue eye, there were pillow creases on his flushed cheeks, and he still managed to take Jason’s breath away.
“I can hear you thinking from here,” he said as his leg found its way to Jason’s and rubbed up and down his shin. “After what we just did you should still be asleep. What’s on your mind?”
“You,” Jason said. “You’re always on my mind.”
Dick grinned, burying it in the pillow. “But there’s something stressing you out,” he said, reaching out and trailing fingers up and down Jason’s arm. His golden skin looked radiant, Jason couldn’t tell if Dick was actually glowing or if it was a trick of the light. “What’s wrong?”
“Why me, Dick?”
Dick sat up a little, a small frown on his face. “Lots of reasons,” he said. “We can hold a conversation together and I find that talking to you is genuinely fun and stimulating, I enjoy spending my time with you because you’re sensitive and kind, you’re extremely handsome, and you treat me well, but not like I’m someone or something that’s frightening or above you.”
He could feel heat in his face as Dick described all the things Jason was to him. Jason wasn’t just a good lay or someone that looked pretty at Dick’s side. Dick listed genuine reasons why he liked Jason. Part of him still couldn’t believe it though. “There have to be other people out there that can be that for you,” Jason said.
“There are,” Dick said. “And I can make people be those things for me, but it’s not genuine. It’s not real. What I have with you is real, and there’s a lot more power in authenticity than there is in forcing things. Trust me.”
“I do trust you, but-”
“You’re overthinking- I’m yours. That’s all I want to be.” Dick said, looking into Jason’s eyes. Looking into Dick’s eyes was like looking at a precious jewel or an endless deep blue pool that could consume him and he wouldn’t care.
“But what if a day comes when you don’t?” Jason asked.
“We can ask all these what ifs,” Dick said. “And we can spend all our time trying to figure out what’s going to happen, but when we do that, we focus more on what could be instead of what is. And you know what is, right now Jason?”
“What?” Jason asked, a small smile on his face.
“I love you. That’s now. That’s what’s important.”
“I love you too,” Jason whispered. “And I am yours as you are mine.”
Dick pulled him into a kiss then, and Jason was reminded of all the things that love could be.

Heat Houses, places where elite alphas go to share heats and ruts with highly trained omegas. Dick is determined to shut down the Diamond Palace in Gotham, home to one of the largest omega smuggling rings in the world. To do so, he has to go undercover, but can Jason get over the protective instincts and feelings he has towards Dick Grayson to get him out safely?
I think this will be cliche but oh well its fun! 🤣 40, 59 and 69! x)
40. Almost Kiss
59. Interrupted Declaration of Love
69. Flirting Under Fire
Okay so all of these actually work pretty well together. I feel like Jason and Dick are used to bantering during cases together, it was a natural part of being Robin, so of course it’s something that sticks with them as they get older too. If anyone here has ever engaged with in playful banter with someone, you probably know that it can turn into flirty.
Comments like: “And that is why the Red Hood is known for his aim” and “Wow Nightwing, I didn’t think you could be any more dramatic with that flip.”
Turn into: (awkward transition into fic)
“Wow,” Jason says as he goes over to the thug that’s knocked out cold on the ground. Six foot five doesn’t look so big curled up on concrete. “I never knew someone could kick that high without dislocating their leg.”
“That’s not even the best I can do,” Dick says, preening like a peacock. Jason has to admit, it’s a good look on him.
“Oh really?”
“I’ll have to show you sometime.”
And this kind of stuff continues between them, they keep working together because not only are they a great team, but it’s fun. They go back and forth, eat food late at night on top of buildings, and crash at each other’s places when they get too tired.
One time Jason’s at Dick’s place and mentions this movie he sees on Dick’s shelf and they watch it, and next thing you know, they start getting together to watch movies, and talk about books, and enjoy each other’s company.
Both of them separately realize they like one another, but of course they think it’s one sided or that it’s a bad idea.
One time they’re on top of a building, leaning up against each other because it’s cold and tired.
“It’s so beautiful up here,” Dick is talking about the Gotham skyline, but all Jason can focus on is the way the wind flutters Dick’s hair around. If Jason were to reach up and touch it, would it feel as feather soft as it looks?
“Yeah,” he whispers. Dick turns to look at him and they don’t even need to speak. There’s fire between them, burning so hot Jason could be in the Arctic without clothing and he’d be sweating.
The distance between them shrinks, little by little until Jason can’t focus on Dick’s face anymore and it all turns into a blue, tan, and black blur.
“Nightwing, Hood, we need you in precinct twelve.”
At that point Jason and Dick pull away from each other and they just kind of...don’t talk about what happened. Both of them wonder if they imagined what happened or if the other was really interested. Did they almost kiss? Jason and Dick are both overthinkers so they both analyze it to the point where they drift apart a bit. They don’t want to confront what happened. They had such a great dynamic, they’re not going to ruin it for some almost kiss.
Well, they find it kind of hard to not be around each other. One night Dick is in his apartment taking a night off and Jason shows up at his door with takeout from one of Dick’s favorite places and they settle into the couch to watch a movie.
Neither of them can focus though, not when the other is so close. All they can focus on is every single action the other makes; they’re constantly glancing over at each other and trying to pretend it didn’t happen.
It’s tension town, so of course they have to break it, but of course they both speak at the same time. They do this like three times before one of them confesses feelings for the other, and then it reciprocates and boom, that’s how Jason and Dick ended up together and never finished that movie they were watching.
Jaydick--Kidnapped Dick.. pretty please! Also, I'm so sorry you are snowed in!
ZipTied
“You know, you don’t have to do this,” Dick said, he flexed his wrists under the zip ties and ignored the way they pushed into his skin. He missed the days when people used rope. It was easier to escape rope. It was also a lot easier to make it look like Dickie Grayson could get out of it. He was quite flexible, as evidenced by his very popular, and very well managed instagram page.
Instead, he had to wait. First, for someone to notice he was gone, then for them to realize he was gone under suspicious circumstances (or for the group to announce they had him), then for someone to come get him.
“Will you shut up?” His captor asked. “I will gag you, Grayson.”
“Fun,” Dick said, voice flat as he looked around the warehouse. It was probably near the fishing district based on the briny smell on the air. This was Red Hood’s territory, which was just peachy for Dick. The last thing he wanted was to be near Jason’s patrol area.
“Okay, Joe, you know what to do,” his captor said as he tugged on his mask.
“First time in front of the camera?” Dick asked.
“I said, shut up, Grayson!”
Dick rolled his eyes and leaned back, he would pretend to be a little more scared, but these guys are amateurs, honestly, it’s almost embarrassing that they’d managed to catch him, but he’d been a little caught up in other things.
As the men argued over the best camera angle and lighting to use, a thump on the corrugated steel roof echoed through the warehouse and startled the two goons. The noise meant probably wasn’t Batman. Great.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Dick wanted to groan when he heard the mechanized voice. Of course the person he wanted to see least was the one that showed up.
“Shit, it’s the Red Hood.”
“Do you think we have a shot against him?”
Dick laughed and he was met with two glares. “Sorry,” he said. “Do your thing, I’ll just be here sitting pretty for whoever wins.”
Jason shot out the light a moment later, throwing the warehouse into darkness. Dick really wished he was wearing his domino so he could see what was going on, but he could only listen as he heard Jason land on the ground and take down his captors in seconds.
Jason approached him and cut the zip ties holding his hands together.
“My savior,” Dick said as he stood up and rubbed his wrists.
“You really let yourself get captured by these guys, come on Grayson, even a kid could have beat them.”
“I was having an off night,” Dick said as he crossed his arms. A hand landed on his shoulder and guided him out of the warehouse.
“An off night still doesn’t warrant getting taken by two guys.” Jason said as he took his helmet off, running a hand through his hair.
“I said it was an off night,” Dick snapped back.
“So do you want to go back home or wherever it is you’ve been staying?”
Dick shifted and sighed. He could go back to the manor and deal with Tim’s concerned looks and Bruce’s steely gazes. He could go back home and sleep in his own bed, eat food on the couch while watching TV, and not have to worry about being judged. “I want to go home.”
“Okay.” Jason scooped him up and Dick pressed his face into Jason’s shoulder. Jason smelled like gunpowder and sweat, a smell Dick had grown accustomed to and now thought of as one of his favorites.
“I missed you.” It was quiet and muffled by Jason’s jacket, but Jason still heard.
“I missed you too, Dickiebird.”
“That fight was stupid. I was being stupid, Jason.” The fact that he doesn’t even know what started it attested to that fact. Dick had been tired and Jason had asked him to do something, Dick had gotten upset and it had turned into a shouting match.
“We were both being stupid, Dick. I’m just glad you’re back home tonight. I’m sorry we fought, and I’m sorry things escalated.”
“We’re bats,” Dick said. “And we were both stressed. Next time we need to remember to just have sex and talk it out later.”
“Because that works so well,” Jason replied.
“It’s how we got together,” Dick said.
“I guess you’re right,” Jason said. “Your palace awaits.”
“I think you mean our palace.”
“Yeah,” Jason’s mouth quirked up into a grin. “I do.”
