I probably should've posted this on the anniversary itself, but I feel I should acknowledge that I know the Card Queens (yes, the ones designed by kanotynes, along with most of the other card characters of Ch1) will never, ever be canon.

"Oh but Haz, you don't know that!! We haven't even seen the rest of the chapters yet!!!"

Yes I do, Toby Fox himself said in the 2021 anniversary stream where Ch2 was announced that he didn't use them.

To be fair, at the time I assumed "oh he just didn't use them in Ch1," until Ch2 and Queen herself came along (and was the "Queen" Jevil mentioned), and confirmed that he had no intention of using them whatsoever in the entire game.

And that's...actually a good thing?

Let me explain; if actual canonical Card Queens Deltarune showed up, chances are I'd be incredibly wrong anyways, and the characters I've built them up to be would have to be completely ignored and discarded, and my heart would hurt all over again.

But the fact that they never will show up in the actual game gives me the freedom to keep them, the way I've built and shaped them, the way I found most enjoyable, and the way other people seem to also enjoy them.

Queen's mere existence didn't completely invalidate my contributions of Card Queens, despite the fact they will never be canon. If anything, she allowed me to keep them, and find some way to include them in a more canon-friendly (but still fanmade) scenario than if Toby actually used the Card Queen designs. And for that, I thank them both.

Shirley was born small enough to almost fit in her mother's cupped hands

She was also born with white hair, which turned black after about 3 months

I actually haven't decided if the red card suit queens are actually mothers

Cue all of them wrestling violently over that bottle, arguing who needs it more.

Suffice to say, I was not prepared for that (and neither were they).

I loved getting to explore the characters of Berdley and Noelle (lol, who knew Susie was unwittingly amassing her own harem of admirers?), they were very charming, and I'm interested to see how Noelle's relationship with her sister December compares with Kris' to Asriel. Something tells me that's going to be important. Or at least interesting.
