My landlord finally approved me to get birds.
Kim may be an evil bitch but goddamn if she didn't give me the green light on bringing some feathery bastards back into my life.
I haven't had any birds in over 3 years because I had to rehome the 11 I had when I moved away to go to college. It broke my heart and it broke me. I went to college for just one semester and became too depressed to continue. I got just one C and lost my scholarships which meant I'd have to take out loans to continue, but why put myself into debt just to spiral deeper and deeper into depression AND debt? So I left.
I moved to Florida and participated in the Disney college program for a full year, successfully extending my program twice. I had a lot of fun while I was there, made so many lifelong friends, and grew so much as a person, but I still couldn't shake that something was missing. Now I've been living with two of my best friends in the world for almost a year now and Caroline mentioned to me that she wished we could get a bird.
When it came out of her, unprompted, that she genuinely wished we could get a bird, something clicked.
The voice in the back of my head saying "you're annoying, nobody else gives a shit about birds, if you get birds you'll just piss everyone off, just forget about it" was wrong. She is my best friend and I know she supports me and getting this actual verbal reminder knocked me into MAXIMUM BIRD MODE.
So yesterday my amazing boyfriend went with me to like 3 pet stores searching for bird things and then I ordered a ton more when I got home. I spent like $300 on bird supplies and I regret nothing.
I haven't been so excited for something in a long long time and I can't wait to get my new children.
That is all.
